The Jorginho links have ended with us, he's being linked to Man Utd or Chelsea/Man City now

The rumour is ceballos from Madrid is the midfielder we will target. Think he's more of an Ox type player. Only 21 and surplus to requirements in Madrid. Our type of signing tbh.

I think Maddison from Norwich is a real go-er.

Tottenham are ready to sell Danny Rose, Toby Alderweireld, Victor Wanyama, and Mousa Dembele to raise £170m as Mauricio Pochettino looks to bolster his squad ahead of next season. (Mail)

Chelsea sold Salah in 2016, not me, says Mourinho
CFormer Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is not surprised by Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah’s exploits in the current campaign and said the decision to sell the Egyptian to Roma in 2016 was made by the Premier League club.

Marko Grujic has been backed to make an impact at Liverpool next season – with claims Jurgen Klopp views the midfielder part of his long-term plans.

Grujic has yet to start a Premier League game since becoming Klopp's first signing as Reds boss in January 2016.

I agree Maddisonho will probably be one of our targets this summer. We will not be the only ones after him though. The bright lights of London may attract him.

Seriously intrigued how young talent will be advised at the moment. If you want to develop into a top top player and subsequently benefit financially, who would you advise your players to sign for?

City - yes, Pep is possibly the best coach int he world but would they get much chance in that squad?

Utd - Mourinho??? Just look at Luke shaw. Or Salah, de Bruyne even....but he does win trophies which is what it's all about and they are willing to pay more than anyone else.

    Arsenal - who knows

    Chelsea - in turmoil

Spurs - perhaps yes but salary cap and lack of silverware might lead to an exodus

Liverpool - who wouldn't want to work with Klopp? But would we pay as much as others?

    a) City - very reticent. Why? Pep is a 3 year manager. If he stays for 5 say thats a record anywhere. he has borught one kid in in 2 years. If you place a kid at city he is likely to never get a chance and then pep leaves

    b) Utd - no way. only need to see shaw's plight.

Arsneal - no way as its turmoil and development is at risk until their new man and long term approach becomes clear

Spurs - yes. but.... you must be careful what you sign and expect to stay for the full term. Expect to see spurs offer minor increases each year to keep your contract long and then be caught if you are a success but this is minor issue compared to chances you will get

Liverpool - yes you will get chances.

the payment terms are only an issue at the very very top player level. None of the above clubs give a 19 year old 100k here. this is about developing young aleneting in the 10-20k pay bracket.

A sessengnon will be way outside that bracket imo already and go for 50mil + depending on where fulham end up next year.

It's pretty much how I see it but would it be how agents view it - would they take the bigger money now or look for them to be developed in stars by someone like Klopp?

from an agents point of view...........

I think agents are sharks who eye up a kid as a lump of meat and they will know if they will make a one off killing or be looking at a long term asset to milk.

So If I'd a kid i thought i could make a quick half a mil off of but is likely to then vanish i would push them at the best deal now.

If i had a player i thought i could place with a massive fee coming in 3 or 4 years then I'd want to place them where they can grow to enable that fee.

If you place a kid at city now nobody will pay you. If you place a kid at LFC or spurs then theres a high chance city etc are going to swoop in and pay you off.

YOu only need look how ruben neves agent works or mourinho's own agent works or pogba's agent works.

They will try get a kid to break his own contract to go somewhere willing to take kid on cheap now so agent can take a big slice of that transfer fee thats coming.

Juve raped utd and pogba. the agent then took a massive pay off nobody but utd were willing to fund so player goes back to utd. Player will then move to PSG in 2 years time.

agent maes money at every step but if he'd been taking the max day 1 those further killings would not occur.

    Agents treat kids like meat.

they've no interest in placing a kid with klopp or anyone else for the kids benefit.

pretty on the money except that what you say of spurs apply to yourselves as well.

Liverpool hold teams over a barrel as much as Spurs and the lack of silverware is the same for both.

As MITO mentioned, not sure salary is going to count that much for young players as both clubs can easily pay adequately

TBH I think spurs are better at it that us and levy is more harsh on his players.... We have run close to bone but players have always got their way... always.

Think the Mourinho / Shaw thing isn't quite such a big deal as some make out as other managers have criticised Shaw for lack of dedication / fitness. The only thing with Mourinho is that he makes his criticism both often and very very outspoken.

Yup agree. Liverpool have the issue of silverware too. I did mean to put this on my original post. I think our salary structure is different to Spurs though so there's a distinct difference. Not sure what you mean about holding teams over a barrel?

And then the moment he starts playing well he tries to take all the credit while still insulting the player
