Atletico look pretty solid defensively. They look like they know what to do in these situations. Desperately need one goal, really need 2.

Great half not sure how its still goalless. But we really need to be more direct.. please stop trying to walk it in.

    Bellerin has been superb.

If there was a game to sum up arsenal in the last 13 years, it would be this game.

Blew our advantage. Little to no chance of us progressing on the back of that and they know it. We simply weren't clinical enough in front of goal. We won't be afforded the same luxuries in Madrid. What a disappointment.

Typical Athletico - resolute and dangerous on the counter. Griezmann had what three attempts? all three on target one a goal.

Wellbeck - smashed at least two chances out near the corner flag.

Overall though we played well - but we just cant concentrate for a full 90 mins.

    so incredibly frustrating.

We must have had like 80-90% posession. We had the lead. We werent even flying forward per se.
Atletico did NOTHING that second half prior to that goal.

and we still conceded a stupid stupid stupid goal. Koscielny miskicks trying to clear, mustafi slips while trying to clear, and the whole tie has been thrown away.

    So, so, so Arsenal.

Not the worst performance and to concede 1 is not a train smash. Means we need to score in Madrid though. Can we? I'm not sure. We just weren't good enough in front of goal and that's the overall feeling I am left with.

I'm seething with Koscielny. He had barely anything to do all game, and the one time he needs to stay focused, he goes and does that.

That being said, we had countless opportunities in that game to put it to bed. Oblak made some world-class saves, but some of our shots were pretty tame when we got into good positions.

The reality is they were down to 10 men for 80 minutes and we could only muster one goal. We can only blame ourselves for not scoring more goals.

Whilst they were incredibly resilient and difficult to break down, we didn't seize the day.

Unfortunately, and I hate to sound defeatist, but Atletico are going to be a completely different prospect in the second-leg. I can't see us going through now.

A crying shame because we had such a great opportunity to really make the most of the decisions that went in our favour. We didn't.

It looks like it's going to be a tepid end to Wenger's Arsenal career.

Honestly, I am gutted with that result. Closest chance to reach a European final for over a decade and the players didn't deliver when it mattered.

I still think we can progress though.

We dominated possession even before they went down to 10. But we need to be FAR more ruthless.

Atletico weren't great by any stretch of the imagination. Average performance overall by them coupled with a defensive masterclass, but in the final analysis, they won't care.

Im not sure if that says more about us, or about Atletico.

but you just have to ram home the advantage when you play against 10 men for 80 minutes...

He had a chance to fix the defence, he did not. Ah well just so glad he is going, I might even watch us play next season.

the issue is we now HAVE to score at their place.

Even if it was 0-0 we could have started more casually, but now we have to attack from the getgo and that will play right into their hands.

If we couldn't beat a 10-man Atletico, despite throwing the kitchen sink and dominating them from start to finish, I have no idea how you are confident we are going to beat an Atletico side with the away goal advantage, in a rowdy, vociferous stadium, with Diego Costa back? We don't just need to score, we need to keep them out.

We were given a massive opportunity to take control of this tie. We failed to do it.

It will take a miracle to progress at this point.

Massive disappointment to concede that goal tonight.

****ing dumb defending from Kos, he panicked when he should have just seen Griezmann out.

this is on you guys really.

10 men, for 80 minutes and you weren't clinical enough fine.

Then you go 1 up and you start strolling around casually.

Where was the intensity and why didn't you ram home your advantage.

I think the most disappointing thing for you boys and from wenger was that you barely had an outlet on the right hand side (Bellerin but he needs to make up ground to get up there) and Welbeck was always in acres, received the ball and turned back in and played it back out.

Firstly, why was he still on the pitch and with half your team strolling around, why didn't wenger make ANY subs to inject a bit more intensity. Wilshire was pretty much non existent bar the assist and ramsay was invisible apart from his 2 chances.

Very disappointing attitude and a very disappointing end from koscielny.

The only 2 working really hard were your fullbacks all game and even at 80 minutes you saw lacazette chasing back.

Compared this to the atletico team who were all on it all game

Thought we tried hard to get the 2nd tbh. Oblak made 2-3 world class saves.

you were camped hard for a 5 minute spell but then proceded to just pass it around in midfield casually.

The biggest mistake was not making any subs.

Iwobi should have come on and Kolasinac should have come on
