I just hope the Saints team are watching this match, Atlético are giving a masterclass in organised defence.
I am losing count with the Jesús fella! I thought he was a Manchester City player but such is the divine power he can play for two or more clubs.
Arsenal have a monumental task to get through now, Atlético haven’t conceded at home in their last 11 matches. Not looking good for Arsene’s retirement present.
It could be the first season where the two European club trophies head to the same city. While another trophy for Real would be a monumental achievement, I feel it is rather a hollow one for any team to drop out of the CL, but I dare say Atletico´s supporters won´t care. However, let´s hope there is a twist in the return leg.
You say that but it never used to be owned by the FA its only since they took out the massive mortgage which they still have and are still paying a lot of interest on the FA have owned the stadium. Makes perfect sense to me to off load the burden that is Wembley and hopefully start investing a bit more money into grass roots football.
Yes, before the rebuild it used to be owned by Wembley Company, who hired it out for sporting and other events, and who seem to have been a lot of grasping sharks. When the stadium hosted the Live Aid concert in 1985, practically all the various people who made the huge event possible gave their services free. The exception was the Wembley Co., who demanded a sizeable hiring fee, and insisted that all food and drink was purchased from them. (Source: Bob Geldof’s autobiography.)
Thanks! I'm surprised he hasn't written an updated version given all he's done since! I wasn't even born in 1986! I'll try and get my hands on a copy as I always enjoy reading the autobiographies of musicians.
Would have been better if he bought the Olympic Stadium, then He could have saved that taxpayers money and also kicked out West Ham or increased their rent. Would cheer Me up either way.
I like the Olympic Stadium as it was the venue of our greatest night in British sporting history. Sell Wembley Stadium by all means. We have many other fine venues that can be used instead - Anfield, City of Manchester Stadium, Old Trafford, St James Park, Villa Park, the Emirates, the New White Hart Lane, the London Stadium, and the Millennium Stadium. Surely wonderful venues for hosting FA semis and finals, play-offs, as well as England Internationals.
Going out this evening and hope to find a bar showing the Fullham v Sunderland game. Apparently, Fulham were brilliant last week against a very inform Millwall.
