There's reports saying that U23 midfielder Joe Pritchard is on trial at Cheltenham, which pretty much says he'll be released at the end of the season.
This isn't likely to be as other windows though. We never had a new stadium and a reported large budget before, having CL football will also make it that bit sweeter. Most windows we tend to need to sell before we buy too, while we'll still need to sell, buying can take the forefront for a change. Poch and Levy will have no doubt already discussed and identified targets weeks back. World Cups have never stopped us from signing players in the past, in fact some of our best buys have been in World Cup summers - Ekotto, Zokora, Berbatov, Sandro, Gallas, van der Vaart, Dier, Davies... The change of deadline day should in theory have zero effect on what we do. I could of course be wrong and we'll see another usual style of window but this is a very rare and unique time for the club, I'm not expecting to see Messi, Neymar and Ronaldo posing with Spurs shirts come deadline day but I do anticipate one or two guys who'll get us excited to go along with our lovely new gaff.
It's telling that in the past couple of days both Llorente and Janssen have been linked with summer departures, which begs the questions who we have in mind to be this year's unfortunate victim to be the striker option from the bench. And if anyone says Jay Rodriguez...
Today in Murdoch's Hate Comic are two stories involving three words: "Tottenham", "swap" and "Manchester", namely... * Man Utd offering £40m + Luke Shaw for Danny Rose * The Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed bin Sultan bin Zayed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan Team considering John Stones for Toby Alderweireld In other news, Cartilage Free Captain are once again bigging up Napoli's Amadou Diawara as a potential Demebe replacement, even though he's closer in style to Wanyama but with better passing...but a complete disinterest in tracking back Highly unlikely given Lyon have an €8m option to make his loan permanent, so unless their fax machine packs in or they forget the loan expires on June 30th he'll be a Lyon player next season with a 20% sell-on clause.
£40m and Shaw for Rose...in a heart beat...hate that Rose is still a Spur...arrogant cock and Maureen are s great match. Stones for Toby....better than a kick in the head I guess
Bloody hell, thought I was actually watching MD in those clips - even down to the general lack of goals and direct assists! Seriously though, looks like a great option if achievable.
Saw that and after the initial ‘really?’ response, I’ve warmed to the idea. (Although not as a swap, obviously - if Toby is going then he’s gonna need his passport!) Stones has promised much and delivered little so far, but there’s a decent player in there somewhere and Poch is as likely as anyone to get it out of him. Wonder what his wages are though.....
I guess somebody needs to smash up Lyon's fax machine and steal every calendar in an eighty mile radius of their stadium then... £100k p/w, according to last year's Football Manager. Funny how Alderweireld hasn't focused on that figure, eh?
We need a Marquee signing to bump this team up. Time for Levy and Uncle Joe to loosen them purse strings. Won't happen though but it's what's needed or we will be floating about with a few more nearly oh so close moments but nothing more
Today's use of a dartboard comes with a decidedly Portuguese flavour, so presumably the hacks were at Nandos for lunch. Those linked are... Gelson Martins, Sporting Lisbon's right winger who's contracted until 2022 and obviously won't have any problem vying with Son, Lucas and Lamela for the same position in the team Cedric Soares, Southampton's right back who would be fantastic in the Tripper role...but we sort of have a player in the Trippier role: Trippier Ruben Neves, the Wolves midfielder whose agent happens to be (like so many of the Wolves team, by The FA don't see anything dodgy going on) Jorge Mendes, so he'll probably cost more than our new stadium I give that a trio of "Nope"s.
Last week we supposedly had a £120m war chest to spend this summer This week we're supposedly ready to sell Rose, Alderweireld, Wanyama and Dembele to raise £170m So which is it?
obviously we are selling those 4 for £12.5m each. Do you understand nothing about how we are a selling club and how levy sells on the cheap ?
Conveniently forgetting that 3 of them have missed big chunks of the season with injuries and the other has ongoing injury issues - never let a good story get in the way...
Today's random transfer rumour: Wolves are interested in signing Sissoko. I think we just found a way to sign Ruben Neves this summer...
