Hahaha I'll find out for you mate lol. It only takes me about 10-15mins to get to Darlo from my house now so it's not that bad. I barely see any of my family anyway.
Good point. We live 10 minutes from my in-laws and it's really handy in tight situations and also the peace of mind of having emergency childcare if something urgent came along. The places all mentioned in his post as such that he's not exactly a long distance from anyone anyway (though I do like Darlo!). My parents live in France so midway would be pretty useless for us...
Darlo is only 25 minutes to stockton, 20 minutes to Richmond. I know one being in teesside, one in north yorkshire and the other in county durham makes it seem far apart but it's quite a tight area. I've recommended Hurworth. No Brainer imo.
My comparison is that I live on the Wirral and my close family (brothers, parents, etc) live in Nottingham, London, Newcastle and Limoges. But i grew up in a village where I could walk to 2 different uncles and aunties, my grandparents and my great-grandparents in under 5 minutes from my house. As a little kid it was awesome, in my late-teens is was claustrophobic!
Where in Poland are you off to then Vince? Done Krakow last year, my mates just done Gdansk and another mate is away to Warsaw next month.
Nice little place. Rewired a hospital/hospice (ran by monks I think) down that way. Some nice little kips and a canny boozer if I remember. Something & the Otter. had a few bevvies in there.
Quite chuffed with summer plans as I've had to consider 18-year-old son who wants to go on a post-"A" level bash with his mates, but who amazingly still wants to travel with his boring dad. Plus lass who can only ever get a few days off work at a time due to her job (and isn't really the adventurous holiday type). Few days in Croatia with lass. Few days back in Britain with lass (mainly Scotland but also including Darlo ). Few days in Stockholm with lass (also night cruise to Helsinki, journey I've already taken twice so know well, so we can travel while kipping). Nine days in Kyrgyzstan with son.
