Three important fixtures tonight in League One; Rochdale V Plymouth Argyle Shrewsbury Town V Peterborough United Bradford City V MK Dons All three kick-offs 7:45pm Naturally, home wins for Rochdale and Shrewsbury would be ideal for us, and an away win for MK Dons. Plymouth Argyle If Plymouth win they will move on to 67 points, just 1 behind Charlton and still with one game in hand. Plymouth will remain in 7th place below Scunthorpe United on goal difference unless they slaughter Rochdale 9-0 which seems pretty unlikely. I hope Rochdale can avoid a heavy defeat, as Plymouth's current GD of +3 is poorer than Charlton's +7 and it could all come down to goal difference on the last day of the season. A Plymouth win would mean both they and Scunthorpe will both be only 1 point behind Charlton, but their next fixture on Saturday is against each other. Peterborough United A win for Peterborough United would put them on 64 points with only 2 games left to play. Still apparently not much of a threat to Charlton, but looking ahead to the weekend Peterborough are at home against struggling Fleetwood Town. Should Posh win that game and Charlton lose to Blackburn at the Valley, Peterborough would be only 1 point behind us going into the last day of the regular season. Bradford City Bradford seem to be out of the play-off equation right now, but they will be expecting to beat MK Dons tonight. That would put them on 61 points with three games still to play. Those three games are against Southend (home), Walsall (home), and Scunthorpe (away) on the last day. If the Bantams beat MK Dons tonight and win their next two home games, they too will be on 67 points going into the last day of the season - just 1 point behind Charlton if we lose to Blackburn. Such a scenario is unlikely perhaps, but not impossible. If that happens, the result of the Scunthorpe V Bradford game could have a huge impact on whether or not Charlton finish in the top 6. So come on Rochdale, Shrewsbury and MK Dons tonght!
I thnk the Plymouth game is the important game. Plymouth will be doubly determined to bounce back from Saturday's defeat. After all the excitement from the past two games, it is stil out of our hands at the moment.
MK Dons look done for, and have just made their 6th managerial change since Gobbo left them. They must be the ideal opponents tonight.
