Not going to happen but we could seriously use that bloke, looked uninterested at times but still caused problems even when he didn't. Would rather have Kenwyne than Bendtner or Crouch. Hope Brucie's scouts have been hard at work finding us a striker and a winger before the deadline
agreed, he is doing alright at Stoke now and a blunder by Brucie for forcing him out as he didn't want to leave with Jones we never played to his strengths we never brought in wingers who could whip in good crosses, if we had the likes of Larsson back then Jones would of got 15goals a season and Benty loved playing alongside him, he wasn't bothered about not being the main striker he just done his job and our best player when defending set pieces why is it we never address situations when we should he'll be loving it at Stoke with Etherington and Pennant on the wings
Me and Bart had a long discussion about this the other day. He should never have left, he was a weapon, as well as a defensive asset, and if his head dropped, it was probably because he was the scapegoat for a load of the fans. I loved Kenwyne.
One of the few occasions that me and BB will disagree. KJ is a player with all the talent and none of the aptitude to succeed at the top level. A good game every 5 or 6 attempts is okay in the Championship but nowhere near good enough in the EPL. Why would Pulllis even contemplate buying Crouch if Jones was good enough? TP knows Jones is as much a liability as he is an asset and I wouldnt be surprised to see Jones leave Stoke either this window or the next one. Crouch is 10 times the player IMO that Jones ever will be.
Jones was a lazy sod who seemed to become churlish after Bent took the limelight... not someone I'd be thrilled with; in fact I'd rather have Bent back and I despise him after the whole 'bigger club' thing.
Very true. Quite a few short memories as KJ was always slagged off for going awol weeks at a time & everyone, love him or hate him, knows what DB can do.
Should never have been sold in the first place Especially for the price we got, Stoke pulled out pants down on that one.
Quite a few short memories as KJ was played when he wasn't match fit (after the Liverpool home match for instance when he got knobbled) and was given so little service - I do think his head went down at times and he'd stroll about looking fed up. When we gelled as a team and when fit he would win games and you could see that he and Bent loved playing together. We haven't even come close to replacing that front line partnership.
Jones will always split opinion. The Jones we had in his first season was superb. He turned into a 1 in 5 player after that and was hardly going to get 20 goals a season. Defensively he was awesome with set pieces but he wasn't as good in an attacking manner so for me, no. (also what we need atm is a goalscorer and Jones was never going to be that imo)
Yes, like I've said id give him a piggy back to bring him here. In the right team playing good football and getting plenty of balls into the box he'd easily get 15 goals a season. Some Sunderland fans seem to forget that in his three years his league goals return was 7,10,9
Jones is lazy with a lousy attitude and is a waste of space. In the unlikely event that we brought him back I'd hand in my season ticket.
Where we have missed KJ is in defence, we have become vulnerable in the air at set pieces. Whether KJ would have gelled with Gyan is a matter of conjecture. I also think Bendtner and Crouch are better than KJ as attackers but not by much
Jones has outscored Crouch 3 out of the last 4 seasons in the league in worse teams. That season Crouch scored more it was 11 to Jones' 10. 2008/09
