This is Skye. We've been together 4 years now and in that short space of time she's been by my side when I split up with the ex, when I moved to a new county, and when my Mother passed away it was only Skye that was by my side. We've been through so much together in a small space of time but I've now bought a house and started a new business, which Skye comes to my shop everyday and sits with me, the customers love her. I'm 34, I got my first tattoo two months ago. Yes, the tattoo is of Skye across the centre of my chest. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
Devotion and loyalty are admirable characteristics in most dogs. Some pet owners however do like the sense of independence which cats show. Most understand that cats offer affection and company on their own terms, and are not so emotionally reliant on their owners. Granted too cats are not generally as 'intelligent' as dogs when it comes to learned behaviour. But again most cat owners would probably not put the cleverness of their moggy at the top of a list of reasons why they love them.
Talking of intelligence. The whippet and yorkie my father had knew when he was coming home. Every day about 10 minutes before he came home from work they would sit by the window looking out and waiting for the car to pull up. They were more accurate than Big Ben.
They probably blocked out less sunlight as well (assuming it was a west facing window). Having the clock tower of the Houses of Parliament sitting in front of your window waiting for your dad to come home from work must have been a bit inconvenient for several reasons, unless you had a very large front room. And that thirteen ton bell ringing every fifteen minutes would be enough to loosen your fillings I should think.
I love all creatures, but here's my top ten: My Pug Pigs Frogs Terrapins Slow-worms Komodo Dragons Robins Hedgehogs Woodlice Dragonflies
