Very Admirable sentiments Arnie , But isn't it largely fate that betides a demised footnote of anybody passing , celebrated or otherwise & rather than bemoan the actions of the living , set an example yourself & posthumously speak up for the departed. But don't worry Arnie -We'll all be Dead soon. Oh & No Politics,Ta.

Somewhat surreal feeling with Avicii passing away.
We're about the same age and it's been natural following his career during the last decade.
One of the biggest artists in Sweden, way, way too young :(

A sad loss to the football world, Jacqui Forster put a lot of work into helping with the CTWD campaign on behalf of Supporters Direct, where she continued to work until recently, despite her ongoing battle with cancer.

That’s genuinely sad, Jacqui was a force of nature who even back in 2013 was clearly working incredibly hard while in great discomfort. She was a great advocate for football supporters everywhere and is a big loss.

RIP to young tiger Brett. Knew his Dad Craig a long time ago. Can't think what he's going through. All the best mate.

A heartbroken family have paid tribute to their "funny, caring and unique" young boy who has sadly lost his nine-year battle against cancer.

Brett Scott, 11, passed away at his home surrounded by his family following his brave fight against the disease last Wednesday (April 18).

Brett was just two years old when his family became concerned he was leaning to one side while walking and devastatingly he was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour.

Brett travelled to America in October 2015 for proton therapy after doctors decided it was his best chance of beating a brain tumour
Brett's dad Craig Scott said: "He has fought a long hard battle. He lived life to the full. He just got on with it and coped with whatever life threw at him.

"He took everything in his stride. He had been poorly since he was two, but even in his short life he has got to do some amazing things and made special memories.

"We want him to be remembered as a funny, unique and special boy."

Following his diagnosis, Brett underwent surgery and 18 months of chemotherapy as a toddler, which left him with hearing, sight and mobility problems.

Heartbreakingly, his family learnt the tumour had returned in the early Autumn of 2015 and Brett underwent more surgery on his brain at St James' Hospital in Leeds.

It was then revealed he would need potentially life-saving treatment in the US.

Friends, family and complete strangers raised £16,000 to help send the family to America for proton therapy in October 2015.

Brett was an avid Hull City supporter
He underwent 33 proton treatments funded by the NHS before he returned to the UK at the end of December in the same year.

Tragically, in November 2016, MRI scans revealed Brett's tumour had spread to other parts of his brain and radiotherapy was the only option to enable him to have more time with his family and friends.

Brett's courageous fight was followed by his hundreds of supporters through the Supporting Young Brett Scott Facebook page.

There, his family shared the fantastic memories they were making for their son with visits to Lapland, Coronation Street, Hull City matches and much more.

Mr Scott, 53, said: "We have had so much support from people we have never met, but who have heard of Brett's fight and that is very heartwarming for us as a family.

"We are just trying to stay strong. We have got a lot of support from our family and friends who have been visiting us all the time.

"Brett was old before his time. We called him Benjamin Button. He never showed an interest in toys, instead he loved DIY and gardening. He wasn't a normal five to 11-year-old boy, he did his own thing."

Funny, caring and unique Brett Scott
Brett's family have also praised the medical professionals who cared for him as well as the support he received whilst he was a pupil at Hornsea Primary School.

Mr Scott said: "The school a special assembly for all the children after they told them Brett had died and they have always been so supportive of him and us as a family.

"The youth club where he used to go also held a two minute's silence, and everyone is doing their own special thing to remember him."

Brett's funeral will take place at St Nicholas Church, in Newbegin, Hornsea, at 1pm on May 1.

His family are asking anyone attending to represent his love of Doctor Who, Harry Potter and Hull City.

It's a truly terrible thing when one is taken at such a young age - I don't have the words for it.

    RIP young tiger.

Mike Polley - Stories We Tell.GIF My good friend for 46 years, Michael Polley, 84. Met him 2 days after emigrating here - he was the recruiting manager at the company I started working for here in Canada. On the same football team for years, dual centre backs can you believe ? He was on Arsenal's books for 6 weeks way back when - mid/late 50's ? ( I couldn't even make the Hessle Old Boys team), an actor , golf partner, writer & bit of a boxer. The old sod was a great tennis player too.
Father of Sarah - noted Canadian actress and film director. Lovely man - never failed to laugh in his presence, a raconteur supreme.
He's the old fella narrating the first few seconds of Sarah's documentary film below - shown recording a bit of it with his director daughter. Had the honour of reviewing his script version for that movie.
    Miss you terribly Mike. RIP
