Me to. I get jimmies point, but not at the semi final stage of a major comp. You go all out to try and win it as these opportunities don't come round often. I get the building team part, but look at City, money and players don't guarantee anything.
Klopp has brough in quality without us being in the CL, I obviously want both but if it was a choice of winning the CL and 5th or 4th and no CL win I'm going for the 1st option all day.
Top four can no longer be taken for granted by anyone. Arsenal missing 2 years in a row and Chelsea are likely to miss out 2018/2019.
You were massive underdogs to get to the SF stage at the start, you’ll never build a team unless you become part of the elite, as you’ll continue to lose your best players. The only way to join the elite is to win major pots.....like the CL.......you’ve won one pot in a decade - the league cup - your club should be putting everything in trying to win this cup now. That doesn’t mean that you give up on the league, it means team selection will prioritise the CL SF, as Klopp did on Saturday, and rightly so. Also match goers would laugh at your summation, as I reckon they’ll have loved the CL games this season and will feel exactly the same about the SF and should you get there the final. You talk about football like it’s accountancy mate.
That would be sensible. Winning the CL would make top four moot, with automatic qualification guaranteed next season. Hypothetically, I don't see us dropping out of the top four anyway, any more than I see West Brom avoiding relegation. Dry, slow, long-drop relegation.
And what about 5th and no CL? Or top 4 and CL? Making a choice between some options whilst ignoring equally possible ones is a false logic. We took the line of your first option in the Europey, and ended up with nowt. Both finishing lines are in sight, we have to bust a gut for both, prioritising one over the other increases the risk of ending up with nothing. There are still 3 games to go to win the CL, one slip-up could mean the end.
I think the point in response to my original comment is: 1. with respect to LFC we are in the same boat here as southampton were v cheslea. As in we are way past where we have any right to be in this competition. therefore there is no pressure on us but what we put on ourselves. 2. We should enjoy this comp and play freely and not get all bloody wound up about the result. If that means we progress great. IF roma are better fair play to them. I see no reason to beat up on ourselves here. 3. As a separate matter the bread and butter is earned by getting to 4th in league from the great position we are in. We ****ed it last weekend. we have to win this weekend. end of.... by hook or by crook. 4. would you rather stuff is pointless. its not either or. it's not like the games are on the same faffing day is it? these players can play all 3 games and get on with it.
You don't worry about it let me worry about it (Philip j.Fry.) I got this (every idiot who ever tried to do anything dangerous on youtube video)
These are not mutually exclusive options. i fail to see how having ones feet up while we play stoke is going to really beenfit players much. good recovery is more important than chilling on the bench. Focus on tomorrows game first Then stoke then next weeks second leg. Simple. no panic. enjoy it. ther eis no choice to make here. city didn't choose to lose to us or to wigan in cl and fa cup. they wouldn't be making a choice now either. they'd have won fa cup semi if they could then focused on CL and then moved o nto league.
It's also false logic to think they're all equally possible. Or that hypothetical questions require logical answers. Top four, no CL win. Top four, CL win. Fifth, no CL win. Fifth, CL win. These are the options. What are the chances, based on which you'd hypothetically bet your mortgage, sex life and future happiness on?
This is really simple. Work like a dog tuesday recover til saturday. (morning bastard time) Plough stoke under by HT. hope to not draw or lose the game taking good players off. Recover til wednesday Cobble up a team v cheslea and don't lose Rest for a full week. Beat brighton 4-0 on final day rest for 14 full ays before cl final (we hope) I don't get the thought that these players can't play 3 games in the next week and go through the tie plus win 3 points... they just have to get on with it. OH and this is where you miss coutinho as an option don't you We have played moreno and klavan and gomez. what happened v worst side in league? we have one midfield sub. he created 2nd goal. We have a couple no hopers as reserves up top. We could surely do with a coutinho to rest a mane and salah and still have a really good team. As we don't have the options they just get on with it and that just that. why endlessly debate either either neither neither ****e when in fact we just have to get bloody well on with it. chillax guys this is the time of year where all the hard work put in is supposed to yield results. lets enjoy it and not rock in a corner somewhere.
roma never had a chance did they. souness was a beast compared to that soft lad. but jesus wept look at those officials
They are all possible options. What method are you suggesting we use to evaluate the probability of any of them? My comment was aimed at the selective use of two of them to create a false dichotomy.
