    Newton Abbot 4.00 DESSINATEUR @ 5/1

The 5yo looks very well handicapped here on mark of 109.Won on racecourse debut last March in a Chepstow bumper beating the Pipe trained Warthog who is now 127 rated hurdler.Yet to make the frame in three hurdle starts but not been without promise, getting outpaced in all three of them before staying on again. The first of those efforts when 4th at Exeter last November reads particularly well in context of this race. The winner Dynamite Dollars is now rated 132 over hurdles while the runner up Thomas Patrick was a grade 3 chase winner last time off 139.The third Battle Of Ideas went on to earn a hurdles rating of 127.Open to plenty of improvement on only his fifth career start and trainer/jockey in great form.

    Sedgefield 7.40 ECO WARRIOR @ 13/2

Flat winner when with John Hills and although he failed to score in nine runs for Venetia Williams he did show glimpses of promise making the frame three times including on last start for that stable when 2nd at Bangor off 104.Had confidence boosted last time when easily landing a point and the 8yo should be very competitive in this class 6 hunter chase off a mark of 100.

NA 330 Changing the Guard 14/1 Has a good record at this track and with Crosse booked for the ride, I'm hoping for a place at least but the win cant be ruled out

I want to give today's racing a wide berth but, for my sins, I've taken two of De Sousa's 3 rides at Pontefract.

Even then, I'm doubting myself - taken Atletico and Starboy even though Atletico is likely to start too slowly to claw it back over such a short distance.

    More fool me.

In the 4.20 at Hexham I wonder whether Penny Blak can stamp his authority on the race?

Gibbstown 3 50 hex , returns to his fav track , 16/1 , although he is getting on a bit , no reason to diss staying chasers , as we saw with the welsh national winner and runner up , who were both that age ......

My **** luckless winless run has to end sometime, so we'll end it with 3 winners in a lucky 15

5 45 Pontefract - Bad Dog 22/1 - horse just kept looking at me
6 50 Windsor - Allied 18/1 - stoute only runner, younger horses have looked alright so far and Josephine rides
    7 20 Windsor - Betsalottie 16/1 - just following the pattern of wins/loses/wins/loses
    7 50 Windsor - Rupert's Lass 14/1 - hayley turner only ride

Decent bet for the Esher Cup on Friday.

    Al Jellaby 16/1

Has no jockey booked yet and cant find anything on google so not sure hes an intended runner but if fit I dont see why not. Has a good profile for the race, and his novice form looks quite strong now. Stayed on strongly for an eye catching debut 3rd, then ran 3rd to Mildenberger who won the Feildin, then beat White Mocha who was 2nd in the Craven. Looked far from the finished article last season and a mark of 85 could be a gift. I like Desert Wind and Massarr as well, both of them have nice gears, but I think Al Jellaby has the better profile for this race, is proven on softish ground and potentially has more in hand off his mark. If he turns up with Kirby on, and I dont know how big an if that is, I doubt hell be any bigger than 7/1.

Small bet on Whiteoak Fleur in the bumper....might have been a decent bet if the yard had been in any sort of form!
