We need at least two options for every position, not two players

Yep, squad depth is shmabolic at the moment but we are missing some players - Matip, Clyne, Lallana and Can. Not world beaters but still come in and do a job.

I didn’t even get started on the referee. What a joke. It was practically full on assault on the pitch.

There was a foul that Gomez I think did late on and a free kick was given, earlier in the half Ings got taken down in the area off the ball and nothing was given. A worse tackle than the one by Gomez

That was a typical not giving it because of its location on the pitch.

Serious question - do you think that VVD has been a commanding CB whilst playing for us.

i never expected a pen as refs often won't give pens if player has lost control of the ball / won't reach it though it clearly should be given.

The standard of PL refs this season has been truly appalling.

I think he has, not faultless by any stretch (no CB is)

    ok perhaps it's just me.
I think he is regularly out of position and at times would be better off concentrating on his own game rather than our other players .

    100%.

He’s been brilliant. He’s not perfect and he has made mistakes but he’s grown into the leader of the backline and raised the bar. Robertson, Lovren, Trent and Karius look far more confident with him.

And if a set piece or long ball goes near him, he WINS it.

He will get better when he has a competent partner next to him instead of Lovren the clown.

Early days for him really, we are likely to pair him up with a new CB for next season

my 2 cents is he's won every header and organised the defense. IMo he's well known for his errors too but he's certainly been commanding.

We should have had a nailed-on penalty and two of them should have been sent off. **** of a ref.
