A win against Bournemouth and if Swansea fail to add any points to their tally next weekend, then the Swansea game is pivotal. I feel Swansea may be the more nervous as have everything to lose sitting 17th. SFC just need to be bolder. I would like to see Boufal and Gabbiadini play up front.
Was happy enough with first half but just so frustrating to concede so quickly in second half. Not having that 'foul' either at all, everyone knows I'm no fan of VAR but if you're gonna have it then surely you should ****ing use it? Anyway up the ****ing Saints. Anyone mind if I do Bournemouth thread?
Had a great day out, only the result was wrong. Planned my route by train Swaythling to Salisbury. Salisbury to Waterloo and Jubilee line to Wembley Park with a seat all the way. Return Jubilee Line, just a short delay in the queue, Waterloo to Basingstoke on the Exeter service, Basingstoke to Parkway on Cross Country, seat all the way. I do have the advantage of free travel though, nearly fifty years on the Railway has it benefits! Missed their first goal because of half time latecomers blocking the view. The second goal was a bit strange as I watched the replay on the big screen and it appeared that an invisible hand was holding Wesley down? Must watch later if I can. Didn't see a foul on their GK either. It seemed "any doubt", give the blues the shout was the order of the day. Bednerak was my personal MoM. No doubt the best team won, but it wasn't the humiliation that I dreaded would happen. No lack of effort from most of the team and the support was exceptional. I prefer free scarves to flags but they were effective this time.
No, Long is not a liability. If his finishing was of an equally high standard to every other aspect of his game, he'd be a world class striker - and he wouldn't be playing for Saints.
Very true. But he didn't today. Four words you won't often hear on this forum (I agree with you by the way)
Just arrived back in Manchester, long day! At no stage I thought we would score sadly! Contained them well, Bedanek was excellent again , as was Yoshida. Giroud's goal was class. Hoedt was very poor for the second which sums up his season. We really went for it when two down but too little too late. Best I've seen Redmond this season. Just looked back at the Caballero incident, absolute joke of a decision but in all fairness better team won. Met a mate in Finsbury Park after and met Kevin Campbell on the beer. He's a mad man! One or two of the regulars from Arsenal Fan TV there also. Rare bunch! Anyway, good day out. Sadly I hold little hope for the rest of the season so if we do stay up it will be a pleasant surprise!!
Bournemouth @ home for me is about the best game we could have imo, Bournemouth have a little soft underbelly and if we can get at them there’s some goals there for us. Swansea for me against Chelsea I can’t see anything but an away win,and then Swansea will be under real pressure imo it will be squeaky bum time in South Wales,we in fact shouldn’t be under that much really as they are sat in that position hoping that we slip up and that may make them crack. Get behind the team whichever 11 start and try and get them the 3 points we need to really turn the pressure gauge up and then we will see exactly what Swansea have got. If and it’s a big if they go and get the points required to stay up then fair play but let’s just see. Lose against Bournemouth and it’s down, win against Bournemouth and it’s really on.
Amazing isn't it? People complain that we didn't outplay last season's champions. We had a plan, it was a long shot, but it worked for 45 minutes. Even after going a goal down, we had our chances. God knows how anyone can complain about that performance.
Spot on. At least it gave us a final dress rehearsal to fine tune the side that will win the next three games.....
Echo the sentiment of onlyonenumber7. Great day out with friends and family in the sunshine. Have to be honest felt the atmosphere lacked quite badly in comparison to the EFL but can fully understand why. We had a bonus earlier in the day by deciding to walk over Westminster bridge and got a barrier watch at the Marathon leaders coming through just after the 25 mile mark. As we looked at the watch and realised we better make tracks we all knew our fate and that the day was to go downhill on the sporting side!
Agreed, The ref wasn't the best yesterday and VAR is supposed to help/assist......so use it. After the last few games, i also feel the pacey CB request is dead, we need to start asking for one that can win a header! We may be staring relegation in the face but please don't let Bournemouth contribute towards it, COYR.
It’s not difficult really Laces.... you get one arm around his lower leg, the other around his upper leg and make sure you get the shoulder of your arm that is around his thigh, into his hip. Do this at pace.
His balance and ability to drop the shoulder and deceive the opponent are different class, he knows exactly how to keep it just out of reach whilst opening himself up to drift around you. Very difficult to play against. And Willian was excellent as well.
