"The FA Cup is a massive trophy with a lot of history but it's not enough for us,“ To be fair, that just shows how ambitious they are as a club. I have no problem with that.
A Chelsea fan asked me this morning if I’d choose a win today or next week. I said next week all day long as I’d like us to win something. He totally got that. What I do like about today, is that the players can at least take that they outplayed Chelsea for 60 minutes and then still had chances in the last 10 minutes. They will also feel like they owe Chelsea a doing over...
Dunno if the numbers back it up but to me it feels like it happens quite often where two teams play each other so close together that they win one each. I genuinely believe we'll go through to the final regardless of Leicester result, 2-0 aet is my prediction. Strange thing is though, if we had won today then id have been convinced that they will beat us. Funny thing football superstitions eh?
Amen to that. I thought the 3 at the back worked really well until Giroud came on. If they try the same next week I’d stick Yoshida on him man to man and tell him to stick like glue. The other thing is that Alonso was involved in all 3 of their goals today directly or indirectly, and hopefully he’ll be banned for next week for that disgusting foul on Shane which Mike Dean totally missed.
Another thing worth noting is that even if we do go down, winning the FA Cup would mean we've had more success than Spurs in the past decade. Liverpool too if they don't win CL. 'Huge clubs' apparently...
I went for the EPL previously....and I haven't changed my mind. Our present position is what hurts the most....I am now resigned. Our loss today was only a minor disappointment as I can't actually feel worse....though of course I feel for all the fans who went.
I find it quite depressing how many people prefer staying up to winning a 2nd major trophy in our history. But i dont blame the fans, it is a simply a sad reflection of the state of modern football.
I always thought that we were good for a cup run while we're in the PL, but in the Championship it will be tough.
