Dirk Kuyt will partner Luis Suarez up front v Bolton this evening.
The Reds team in full is: Reina, Kelly, Carragher, Agger, Enrique, Lucas, Adam, Henderson, Downing, Kuyt, Suarez. Subs: Doni, Carroll, Spearing, Maxi, Skrtel, Robinson, Shelvey

Happy with that line-up. Carroll will probably come on in the last 30 minutes or so. Feeling confident...

I think he is just keeping his team rotated so they stay fresh for the season.

I reckon Andy Carroll will start against Stoke at the Brittania, they are a physical side, and I reckon our approach may be different to the one we had today. I still think we'll win though.

You could arguably say the same about Bolton though. Two big centre backs who are good in the air, and a few players who like a tackle. As we showed today, we shouldn't fight fire with fire, but with water. :emoticon-0105-wink:

Ya Cahill and Knight are no slouches. I think Carroll shouldn't start, simple as that. He hasn't warrented that, Kuyt has played better than he has. You always want to play your best line-up and what rotation have we seen by the way in our squad? It looks pretty much the same bar a position switch here and there.

Good performance today and expect the same team for Stoke, hopefully we can get 3 points there!

have to agree there. Carolls strengths are the same as Huths and Shawcross so theyd be good at defending the service he would need. However theyre not so good at defending the runs that suarez makes and his agility

Plus Carroll's movement isn't the best. You could see against Arsenal that as soon as Suarez came on there seems to be a lot more room on the pitch. Carroll tends to be a bit static, which would allow the Stoke defenders time to organise themselves.

Carroll hasnt been brilliant, but to be fare he hasnt done anything wrong either

    BUT

It has to be said both Dirk and Luis both have very good movement, and seem to have built up a telepathic understanding already
Its gonna be very hard for Andy to get in the side the next few months, and more to do with Suarez/Kuyt being very good rather than Andy been bad

I think we all know by now that Kenny will pick what he thinks is the best 11 to beat whoever we are playing irrespective of a players reputation or fee. Big Andy is at Liverpool now so must fight for his place and be patient. He will be a massive asset to us over the course of a long hard season as will Dirk, Maxi and the likes of Spearing, Flanagan and Robinson who with the right attitude will give us a really solid base to build on throughout the year <ok>

Competition for places with quality right across the park...so far so good

    Goal scorer = Luis Suarez

    Goal Post = Chic pea

Seriously, Luis Suarez has made Liverpool so fluid and this kid is all around the park..
He picks up ball at different places, distributes, scores , dribbles.. what else can't he do?

    lucky you!

someone created a thread to compare Luis with hapless goal post chic pea - SHAME !

I think maybe you're right. Its not about how much a player cost or reputation, its whats best for the team, maybe just maybe Gerrard may find himself benched for the good of the side on occasions when Kenny may feel that Charlie Adam is a better option for any particular game. There were comments yesterday that suggested that Gerrard when fit will start. Sorry I don't buy into that, he's no longer a first name on the team-sheet player, as good as he is. He can no longer rely on reputation. He's got to put in a shift the same way as the others do.
He will get games, but he's no longer an automatic starter, I also don't think Kenny will put up with the ''Stevie Me'' atitude either, opposition fans comment on it, but it was Gerrard himself to some degree that created it. The was rumours that he was telling liverpool managers who to buy, its a managers job to decide who to buy, not a players job. There has to be one chief and loads of indians, not the other way round.
