Anyway, my take is that if we play Moreno when Robbo is available, then we deserve nothing. And we had FOUR CB's on the pitch for that free kick for the equaliser, but no surprises that it's Lovren who loses his man, again. And credit to WBA for exploiting an obvious and continuous problem that we've had for five years - if you pitch a high, swinging ball across our six-yard line, we haven't a keeper of strength and conviction in our ranks to punch it away, let alone catch it,

One whine though - I see MOTD spent one tenth of the time reviewing the decisions and bemoaning players still on the pitch who should have been sent off as they did over Mane at Palace. Dreadful refereeing and punditry too, but any team with big lads will still, no matter how outplayed they are, sniff a chance when we have **** goalies and a left-back who needed to be replaced for a season by an ageing midfielder in his 30's.

Stoke becomes MUST win now - when Chelsea win their game in hand the gap will be five points: if we drop more points before we play them in the penultimate game and they probably win that, we'll be needing to win against Brighton on our final game to be sure (or not even that, if we get beaten by a desperate Stoke next Saturday when we really should be resting players between the CL semi legs), and remember that our last game against 'Boro last season nearly/should have ended in disaster when Lovren ****ed up again. Bottom line is, we should have been able to put the deck chairs out against Chelsea and Brighton, and hopefully concentrate on a CL final: now we're scampering around for points right until the death. Not cromulent at all.

Frustrating game and even worse end.

Just highlights our thin the squad is:

- we have no commanding centre backs other than VVD. Lovren poor again for their goal. Klavan surely gone this season.

- midfield is what it is. Even our best midfield 3 isn’t good enough. Ox was good though.

- take one of the front 3 out and it’s not good enough. Replacing them with Ings and the gulf in quality is even larger. Fair play to Ings, scored a goal but overall, he was ****. There is no point bringing Firmino on as a sub when we have a CL game coming up. He really switches off.

Bad day in the office but not the end of the world - doesn’t change anything, win 2 games and we qualify (1 win and a draw is probably enough as well). Home game against Stoke this weekend which we should be winning (as long as we don’t rest anybody).

 

Coming up will be our 5 matches of the season: Roma obviously but also Stoke in the premiership to begin with. Absolutely must not lose. We get a point and we are still in control. We lose the match against Chelsea becomes another must not lose. If we lose that we may lose control of our destiny in the last match. Spurs may drop more points than us but I wouldn’t hold my breath.
