Hello, team. Hope everyone well. There’s one making his bow of the morrow, for the Lieutenant, which I spoke about before Easter. And, cor blimey, what a bally heat he’s running in – only the contest that the great man has made his own these past few terms. NEW MOON (5.50 Ayr) – part owned by the 11th richest man in Wales this 4YO, by Kapgarde, cost €115,000. The dam is a full sister to the Grade 1 winning chaser, Nickname, and also a half-sister to a dual Group 3 winner on the Flat. New Moon debuts in the race that the Lieutenant ran the legendary Sprinter Sacre back in ’10 and subsequently the great man, the forum’s favourite trainer, the forum’s favourite Lieutenant, indeed the forum’s very raison d'être, has won the race another 4 times – you don’t have to be Poirot to work out that it’s certainly a favourite of his. What, what?!? New Moon should most deffo be up to winning a bumper, troops, and could, in time, be Graded class. Lieutenant Henderson also saddles Igor in the heat. The de Boinville boy rides New Moon but he would not, I say would not, have had the choice as Igor is part-owned by Mr Waley-Cohen senior and therefore is the mount of the forum’s favourite Corinthian. Igor also looks a classy recruit and his dam was a Grade 3 winner over hurdles in France. Both have a lot to live up to though given their trainers recent record in the race. This bumper will not be the ‘be all and end all’ for either horse but I’ll stick with New Moon having been looking out for his debut run for a few weeks now. Good luck all.
I really fancy Forest Bihan in the opener at Ayr with Corals going a standout 9/1 at the time of posting. Ground and trip should be perfect and he goes here off 154, the same mark from which he absolutely smashed up a handicap chase at Kelso on seasonal debut, beating Simply Ned off levels (actually better than levels as Ryan Day took 3 lbs off Simply Ned) and of course Simply Ned went on to dramatically beat Min in Ireland in the stewards room. Forest Bihan has top class novice form with Waiting Patiently and I think the better ground will bring out the best in him.
going out cycling early doors so , as of this afternoon i've done Flashing Glance 16/1 for tom lacey and robbie dunne in the 2m handicap at ayr , i've also backed Irish Roe @20/1 in the same contest , peter atkinson's mare may well appreciate this better ground and had beeen on a solid upward curve prior to newbury flop , back home in the scottish air , may well continue that progress , will do a small R/f with them as well .......

The Kentucky Derby this year might be the best race ive ever seen. Best Derby for a very long time, incredible depth, ive never seen anything like it in America, last proper good crop of 3yos they had was 2007 with Curlin, Street Sense, Hard Spun, Any Given Saturday, Rags To Riches. Been some great horses since then but never a division anywhere near as strong as this. Mendelssohn, Justify, Magnum Moon, Audible, Good Magic, Bolt Doro Every one of them are probably good enough to win in an average year. Its going to be a historic event.
Enjoying a break in Tenerife at present and fancy having a bet on the Scottish National. One of the bars here will put it on which is good: Doing Fine 14/1 e.w 4 places Goes well on quick ground and I reckon has been laid out for this. Strange run last time out too with Geraghty on board. This has been the main aim.
Loved the triple crown duels in 1978 between Affirmed and Alydar; first and second in all three races. Also, the 1973 race with my favourite flat horse of all time; Secretariat! I'm obviously an auld dosser!

A little ew on Joe Farrell @ 33s to enable the lovely Rebecca to salvage something from the wreckage of her season. Tom Lacey seems to really rate his bumper horse Sebastapol 7/1 (Ayr 5.50) and he is in blinding form. He certainly could have given him an easier opening assignment but I'm taking that as confirmation that he rates him rather than tilting at windmills. Good luck everyone.
I am going to go with Dance Diva in the Fred Darling (Newbury 2:35) because Fahey is very optimistic in his SportingLife.com column and she owes me money! Otherwise, it does not look the hottest trial, but that typifies modern training trends of going straight to Newmarket, so the old 2yo/3yo form lines do not work anymore. My only ante-post bet, Expert Eye, runs in the Greenham but I will not be getting involved because of the unanswered Dewhurst flop even though he is against rivals he ought to be good enough to beat. If he fails then I can look for something else on May 5th. As far as where to put my money is concerned, I am probably making the mistake of chasing last season's losses in supporting AFAAK in the Spring Cup (Newbury 3:45) for Charlie Hills. His second in the Silver Cambridgeshire is good enough form to win here. The bookies make it the favourite, so it will probably spend the whole season as a losing favourite, especially given Hills’ form this week! Drewer, Quinns horses form of late would not instill confidence I note his Benjamin Thomas is blue accross the board all his other entries appear to be on the drift.
Have been told Indian Pursuit is expected to go close again and get a place at least. Tough race though too many runners can easily get bumped and nudged like last time when i got it and only finished 5th. But 25/1 worth the e/w i guess

Coolongolook 7/1 in the first at Newbury, Cumani doesnt have much these days but he looked one of his nicer prospects for this season. Fav could be a class above by the sounds of it but decent handicapper in the making this one.
