The club would be stupid not to give Rafa funds

I tried explaining this recently and was accused of being on drugs (bit ironic if you ask me) - good luck with trying to get this across :emoticon-0103-cool:

I think I'll get it across but then Son of Fredor will just play dumb.

When I say "play dumb" I don't really mean "play".

Says me. You see it differently. I'm just presenting a different point of view.

There is no way to put a figure on what is the correct price. It would arrogant of anyone on here to think they know without a shadow of a doubt what the value is. I certainly wouldn't be so arrogant or daft to suggest I know.

The one thing we do know is the value of it to the current owner was way more than what Staveley offered judging by his pulling the plug and alleged comments. Really that is all that matters. It has great value to Ashley.

Sorry but I can't take anyone seriously in terms of business acumen who doesn't think the club is worth more than it was in January. I mean our league position is probably going to be worth about 20m-30m alone. That is without considering being relegated. The TV deal is still to be finalised I think, there are still packages outstanding I believe? While I doubt it will reach the level previously, it still represents a very sweet pie to be taking a bite of. Our value has definitely gone up and i'm pretty sure it will be reflected in the summer bidding.

    1. You did. :p

    2. Where do you get the £20-30M from? 8th = £25M and 17th = £7.7M. A max difference of £17.3M. I've ignored the relegation spots as the other impact on value by being relegated would distort the figures anyway and again Ashley wouldn't have been calculating his figures on a relegation position.. Most I think on here were speculating at 14th which would be £13.4M. The Sky packages, 2 I think, are unsold as nobody bid what Sky wanted and have yet, I believe without checking, remain unsold. Supporting a realistic expectation of the total figure dropping with the resultant affect on the Club's price especially as Ashley's figures would logically have been on the basis of an expected sizeable increase in the Sky TV monies going forward. So to throw your quote back at you appropriately adapted, "Sorry but I can't take anyone seriously in terms of business acumen who doesn't think the club is worth less than it was in January." Unless of course you're wumming again but you wouldn't do that now, would you.

Staveley bid taking into account the club being in danger of relegation. Ashley placed his value on the club with that in mind also.

TV Deals etc aside we have not been relegated. The two parties now reposition. Mikes values goes up, as does Staveleys bid. Relegation is the key factor when looking at what happened in January. Staveley herself conceded that and even wanted a clause in because of it. The financial risk of relegation outstripped any other factor.

The negotiation factor for a bid and valuation being lower has been removed. The price will therefore go up.

Simplified for you good sir. The basics of business.

Pouchy is right that the club value has gone up. Clearly Perez alone is a £20m footballer when at Xmas £10m would have been generous, it’s a fickle business. Mitrovic has gone up, Lejeune, Shelvey, Lascelles and Dummett likewise so the assets have appreciated by some distance.

Whether Mike revalues remains to be seen, but chances are he will and ask for more because this has always been his business approach. He’ll price hike at the last minute as well, always has, always will. Whilst we don’t know some things we can take educated guesses about his likely behaviour.

We have to also bear in mind the finances. The club is now probably worth around £200m having secured PL status. Whilst the sky deal has dipped, sponsorship and commercial opportunity remains on the rise. There is an outstanding loan of £120m or so, only mike knows how he wants that paid back. But the total deal is now probably £320m.

Finally some common sense. And that is just the value looking in. What about the value to Ashley? Commercially can you imagine the additional value to his other business. True that is not the value of the club increasing as such, but with him as the owner we have to accept the impact of it.

I still think he will sell. I don't think it will be Staveley who buys it. She may enter the running but I think we will be of interest to more than just one party this summer.

In business terms mind, I had previously said I don't think the bubble will burst. I read this recently https://www.forbes.com/sites/andrew...ague-continues-and-its-worrying/#145753af2231 and it made me wonder how sustainable this all is with what is on the horizon. The first small chink has appeared with the TV deal lowering slightly. Brexit is not too far off. If that has the impact it is expected to (even pro Brexit finance guys expect a short downturn), then the impact on football could be huge. This may be why Ashley will cash out while is stack is at the highest its ever been. You don't get to where he has without knowing when to fold.

I don't think Ashley will want more for the club now than he did 6 months ago but the price someone will be prepared to pay will go up as the risk of relegation has been removed. I think Ashley was valuing the club as an ongoing concern in the Premier League and now he can legitimately do that. £350m would definitely get him to sell IMHO but if someone offered £320-£330m I reckon (after much protracted haggling) he would take that.

You've got to say - Sunderland are showing great foresight in putting so much distance between themselves and the approaching Tsunami of the Premier League bubble bursting.

The suggestion I would disrespect this forum by wumming my own teams fans is vulgar and a petty accusation because you don’t like my Rafa facts.
