Match Day Thread Leicester v. Southampton. Thursday 19th April 7:45pm

I hope the powers that be have already started planning and preparing for the new season. It would be good if they could have the next manager installed a week after this season ends. (As good as Mark Hughes might be, the club need a radical rethink) Someone here mentioned Graham Potter.

 

Saints never win at Everton so nil points there. 3 points at home to Bournemouth. At Swansea, a point. Nothing against CIty giving SFC a return of 4 points and an overall total of 33 points. Oh well!!! The first four seasons were fun.

 

Lest we forget, this is from a match report away against Forest from nine years ago this coming May 3rd. We faced those dark days with a smile and our troubles now are miniscule in comparison, we could still even win a major trophy this season!...

Clearly Hughes not to blame for us being relegated - but he got his substitutions badly wrong tonight. So negative in a game we had to win. Yes, 0-0 at Leicester would normally be decent, but not now. 1 win in 22 league games. Such negative football.

 

Sad thing is I was talking to a guy that helps run Southampton ladies. He said Saints had big plans to pump some money into them next season and have games at St Mary's etc. But with relegation it will all be scrapped

That was depressing. Absolutely no urgency at the end. Happy with draw despite the fact isiis not going to be good enough... Bar one or two the players don't give a ****. Very poor substitutions as well took any wind out of our sails. Tbf or backline were decent. Romeu was a liability in the last 30 minutes... The less I say about tadic the better...it was win or bust I'm afraid so I believe now we're gone

Funnily enough, there was hope more hope at the time, despite starting life in League 1 on minus 10, and being several million in debt, I never had any doubt that SFC would climb back. The present situation is darker as there seems to be no positivity around. Next season could well see the club floundering in the nether regions of the Championship, but not so badly that it will achieve a doublé relegation.

 

I am not going to take responsibility for your demise SIS!! But yes, I am convinced SFC will beat Bournemouth.

 

Until what minute?

 

I think we'll get that. Then we need to win at one of Swansea or Everton, draw the other, and probably draw at home to City (which we nearly did at their place under the manager everyone said was useless).

So we're not out of it yet, though I'm not optimistic.

The only flaw I can see is that we are in fact ****. But that needn't necessarily stop us. All we need is a miracle.

 

They'll be down soon enough. Its the cycle of non-top 6 teams. It'll be Palace, Huddersfield, Bournemouth in the next season or two. It's a pattern I thought we might break - and easily could have but for some severe mis-management.
