If you, like seemingly a lot of other people, think football was invented by Sky Sports in the early 90's, yes.

Or it could be that geographically Manchester and Liverpool are the closest to Ireland and both have ports and major immigration of Irish to those two cities.

Probably because football was invented by Sky Sports though.

Seems to have sorted out Dale Winton no bother
Don’t know if Pogba will fare any better with the snorkel up the sphincter though

Or because Manchester is closer to them than Cardiff or Swansea and the two Welsh clubs were playing in the English leagues anyway.

If you lived in Newcastle and your nearest English club to support was Blackburn, would you consider supporting Celtic/Rangers?

Man City and Everton don’t have massive Irish support though, which if it was merely geographic wouldn’t be the case surely?

<laugh> oh dear chief, considering i hate Sky with a vengeance and i support a pub team that response is quite funny <ok>

Yes, you are completely right it is everything to do with geographical location, the last time i looked at a map, Liverpool and Manchester was not in Wales ;)

True. If the current 30 odd year old United plastics were 20 years older, they'd be Liverpool fans.

Let Matthew support who he wants to support.

Some people actually treat football as a sport and not as a community support project <doh>

Shouldn't change your team though apart from when you're old enough to realise your dad forced you to support a team with no hope, ever. I think then you should be allowed to change teams to suit your own criteria.

No hope of what though? Everything is relative.

You should never change your team imo.

My family were not footy fans so I was left to myself and Liverpool were great to watch back then. I grew up in a small village Swans and Cardiff were not that popular at the time either. West Ham were probably the most popular club in my village when I was a young lad and that was down to some dodgy links to London a couple of brothers down there who you might have heard of.
