I thought that was a really good performance, and the result makes it even better. We defended well for the most part, late in the second half there was a period where Reading had a lot of possession but we didn't let them get near the box, we kept pressing and finally got the ball back, I thought that was really impressive. The second half was all us really, we sometimes took too many passes to get the ball to the wing, making it harder for Brady and Koren, but we kept at it and finally the goal came (even though it was pretty lucky). I thought that McLean had a good game, and Fryatt did alright, goals will come if we keep playing like that. I have been disappointed by McKenna and Koren in previous weeks, but I was impressed today. Koren seems to be getting much more involved, even though at times he still seems to drift out of the game, he is getting on the ball much more and causing problems for defences. McKenna also looked decent today, controlling the play, keeping possession, making sure Reading didn't get a look in. Brady is our game winner, such a great player. Does he have something wrong with him though? The other players and management keep telling him to breathe in, and then there was that incident where he went down, seeming to have something wrong with his eye or head. Onwards and upwards.
Please people dont get too carried away !!! Still saw nothing from our forwards and did not test their keeper anywhere near enough as we should have and I thought Reading were very very poor but pleased with the result though. Still need massive improvement.
Mckenna played better today but yes still need more potency up front or will continue to struggle to win games, build up play is fine its the lack of something extra where missing;]
We got what we asked for after last week and saw a much better performance. Still a few things to work on but it's nice to have a seen a performance like todays. Hopefully we can back it up at Peterborough and at home to Pompey.
Wash your damn mouth out. 10x better than last week, I agree with much in this thread. Improved performance for sure, but nothing to suggest we'll be good enough to finish top half. We'll be alright as long as people don't **** over this and get carried away like after Ipswich.
I'm sorry where you watching the same game as me? Mclean was the better forward by far. He was running at defenders. Winning headers flicking them on for fryatt was looking to get on the ball. Mclean had a really good game he was dogging the defenders causing them problems and pushing them back.
Congrats on picking the right guy for your new 'nom-de-plume'. He had a great time, by the sound of things. Hopefully, we're all just celebrating this win. The Posh won't be ours by right. Nor Pompey. But it'd be great to see you have to eat your words if we do do well.
McClean worked very hard - worrying the defence all the time. Generally all round good performance, and although the word " nearly" is what we keep saying, maybe "nearly" will turn into certainty before too long. After that goal the noise in the ground went up and we could feel something good happening at last.
Mclean had a decent game today, as did McKenna, good to see the players who've been getting a bit of grief showing what they can do.
Can't agree with McKenna, thought he was poor as usual today. Don't think he has it in him to play at this level any more.
Hobbs and Mclean are a bit of a worry for me. Think Fryatt is lacking confidence but once he gets his eye in he'll do fine. Good win today, City played some good stuff.
I don't want to sound negative, but if it wasn't for an overhit cross (which anywhere else on the pitch would have drawn boos from the crowd) we would be sat here moaning about a lack of cutting edge AGAIN and a fourth game without a goal at home. Sorry!
All we lack is a cutting edge. Mclean isnt it. Tries hard etc but no cutting edge. May as well kept ***an. Mckenna did do better but thats not saying much. One run in the second half and he was nackered for 10 minutes. Brady was gonna get subbed just before he scored, what madness is that. Yes he is lax with his delivery but he isa constant threat on goal. Mclean isnt.
Agreed. I think everyone did OK today apart from the referee. I would have rather seen Dudgeon than Dawson but Andy had one of his better games. Koren was much better than he has been the rest of this season, he actually looked interested today.
When I saw Barmby coming on, I thought it would definitely be for Fryatt, as he'd done very little of note in the second half. When he did finally come on, it was for Fryatt and I saw nothing to make me think I was wrong in the first place.
