What do you consider a handful? Because FIFA's research and trials found it cleared up an overwhelming number, while leaving a few. They had actual numbers, not subjective terms like a handful.

Your argument appears to be that having many subjective "bad" decisions is fine but having far fewer under VAR is a terrible thing and it should be cast into the fires of Mordor, never to be spoken of again. This is the crux of the lameness in the anti-VAR argument: it can't fix everything so don't fix anything.

Pth, science, eh? Can't prove everything in the universe, so why bother having it at all? Medicine? Can't cure cancer so it's a load of arse.

If you were able to prove your own "subjective opinions" more often, you'd be a fool not to do so, which also illustrates a point.

Referees are not being bypassed, they're being complemented. By your argument, why have assistant referees? Let the ref decide throw-ins. A rough estimate will do. Who cares? Just take the throw-in and get on with it.

We get 60 minutes of play on average in a 90-minute game. The game is already slowed down by players but nobody seems to have a problem with that. The penalty decision against Juventus had nothing to do with VAR. It was a penalty, despite Buffon's extended press conference, but there was still a huge delay when the Juventus players surrounded the ref, Michael Oliver. And it led to the Oliver's wife getting threatening texts.

The time taken by an occasional video referral is not slowing the game down inordinately most of the time, and the times it does can be shortened as everybody gets more experienced.

Subjective question: how long would you wait for a decision on a penalty that could win the Champions League final? 10 seconds? 15? Why wait? The ref didn't see it, even if you did, so no penalty, you lose, go home, cry your tears and good luck next season.
