Well we've finally got the monkey off our backs and won and scored at home. We were the better side and in all honesty Basso was rarely tested. We created a lot better openings than last week and Koren and Brady looked dangerous on the wings. Mclean had his best game for me in a city shirt and looked a handful. Cairney looked full of energy and Mckenna looked better than he has done in his opeing few days. Dawson seemed to come into the role of captain well and had a good game. Reading rarely threatened so credit has to go to our defence for keeping the likes of McAnuff and Hunt at bay. Reading were play off finalists last year so to get a result and performance against them is no mean feat. The only few negatives i'd take from today would be our set pieces, especially corners. We didn't use them the best we could and several times we didn't beat the first man. If not, it came to the keeper. Why don't we have players running from the edge of the box attacking the ball? We could sometimes have got it in the box quicker than we did and again at times spent too much time passing it around and giving the Reading defence time to regroup. Although the support was better today, at times i could hear the groans from mis placed passes and other minor faults. Even when we were winning some people around me in the south stand were complaining about stupid stuff. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and all that but people sometimes need to get a grip, you can't expect us to play like Barcelona and as in any competative sport mistakes happen and jumping on players backs (especially boo boy targets) is counterproductive and there really isn't any need for it. Overall, a good afternoon's work and a good result. We saw a more attacking performance from the boys and reaped the awards. We kept one of the best sides in the league quiet and now have soemthing to build off. I know there's bound to be a few on here tonight saying 'we were lucky', 'win papers over the cracks', 'we'll get found out' bla bla bla but for **** sake enjoy the win and a good performance. We got what we wanted after last week and got the result, surely that's something to be cheerful about. Hopefully we can build off this with a result at Peterborough and another good home peformance against Pompey. UTT!
