Throwing another suggestion out there... Has anyone else watched 'Icarus' on Netflix? Really interesting documentary on the Russian doping scandal.. Which the makers accidentally found themselves in the middle of whilst making a documentary on how easy it is to get away with taking banned substances.
Got round to watching it.. And absolutely agree. One of the best things I watched in 2017 without a doubt. Also, for those who watched Westworld. Season 2 is out next week and looks just as bizarre and fascinating as before. For those who haven't seen it. I highly recommend you give it a look
Mainly a sitcom kinda guy - two recent gems ( in my opinion ) * The young offenders * This country Rare for me to like a new comedy, however these have both opened my eyes a little. I try !
If you've got Netflix and you like a documentary, I recommend The Mavericks which is about sporting mavericks. Three episodes on football then sports like boxing, snooker, darts, and motor racing are covered with one episode respectively. The football episodes are interesting, covers the 70s, 80s, and then the 90s. Another Netflix documentary well worth checking out is Wild Wild Country about a controversial religion / cult in the USA. I'm only a few episodes in, but it's shaping up to be a strong doc.
I'll add them to my list. I tend to like watching Documentaries when I'm on a treadmill in the gym and would recommend 'Dirty Money' on Netflix as well. I've only watched the VW emissions episode but it was absolutely fascinating.
Anyone watched Altered Carbon? Was a bit odd in places, but kept me hooked throughout. One of the better sci-fi dramas I've seen in a long while.
I watched it all, thought it improved in the second half of the series. Big fan of the female cop, she's stunning! Three stars out of five for me, worth a watch if you like sci-fi, otherwise best skip.
She is indeed. Though I didn't want to make it too obvious that I was watching so intently as I was watching with the missus. But there are a couple of scenes that were a bit of a struggle.
Much enjoyed all these reviews. Gotta a lot to catch up on clearly! Peaky Blinders was top notch for me. I too liked the Crown tho not a fan either!
Pornography is surely the correct answer here though. Baywatch in the 90s Eurotrash Showgirls PHWOARRRRRRRRRR No doubt the suffragettes will emerge and lay the smackdown on my candy ass.
Another for the Netflix lot. Just seen that season 2 of the OA is being filmed (released a trailer a couple of months ago). For anyone that hasn't watched season one, it's a fascinating 1st person retelling of a bizarre but truly compelling story that keeps you gripped throughout. Well worth a viewing as I watched it back in 2016 soon after finishing Stranger Things and whilst it probably isn't as 'good' it has stuck with me all this time and had some of the biggest viewing figures on Netflix that year.
Just watched Peppa Pig series 1 - 3 with the Granddaughter. Challenging storylines throughout ! looking forward to more being added
I'm bending the rules here and throwing out a book recommendation. I've just finished reading "The Mixer" by Michael Cox and it's an interesting read. It charts the tactical evolution and changes over the Premier League era from the backpass ruling in the early 90s up to Leicester winning the Premier League. As a result, Ipswich are barely mentioned throughout, but still is a great read with some brilliant anecdotes and the paperback only costs several quid.
