That reminds me of a certain saying about a certain England player around that time........."Norman bites your legs".....looking at that clip just remind me...........Leeds where lumbered with the title at the time as the dirtiest team in the world...........Looks like Barca could dish it out a bit too...........

To be fair, Leeds thoroughly deserved that title. Horrible bunch of dirty bastards Don Revie turned them into.

Sparky has reminded the team that the aim is to kick the leather thing between the two white posts and under the other horizontal bar. They've even managed it six times in the last four games!

We're due a win. We won't play the likes of Arsenal or Chelsea every week and Leicester don't have much to play for beyond pride. Let's just hope the big teams start doing a number on Swansea for us.

Did anyone catch Skysports, I heard that it was found amusing that Mike Dean missed a certain sending off and the Chelsea free kick was quite acceptable to take fifteen yards ahead of the place where it was given.

I really can’t see us winning many/any more games this season as we are so bad defensively.

Arsenal and Chelsea were both in second gear and we dominated large spells of both games, scoring two goals. They played at about 50% for about 15 minutes in total and scored 3 goals in that time. Yes Leicester aren’t as good as either Arsenal or Chelsea and they have nothing to play for either, but Arsenal and Chelsea weren’t good against us and didn’t need to be to score at will. Any PL team will have joy against us with the way we have been defending, and if teams can score whenever they want against you you aren’t going to pick up many points.

Our best hope is to dominate the game against a team just going through the motions and time it so we go 2 up with about 3 minutes to go, we might get a point then

leicester are looking more and more like a Puel team now though and Saints have played fairly well in the last 2 matches.

He has also reminded them that they need to be brave enough to concede free kicks in the right areas of the pitch.
I interpret this as taking it in turns to stop their opponents crossing the halfway line, by knocking them off the ball to stop them from breaking or building momentum.
As he says. We are too nice.

    Edit
But we also need to stop the silly fouls, such as the one PEH dived into, first half near the Chelsea goal line, that earned him a yellow card. They have to save the “yellow card challenges”, for the times when there is no other resort. I don’t want to see players running at our back line skipping past midfielders who are shying away from making contact, because they have already received an unnecessary card.

Latest news: Norman Hunter, Jack Charlton and Roy Keane have been given short term contracts to advise the Saints defence on how to tackle Jamie Vardy ensuring he won't get back up again

Jamie Vardy has been caught off-side 34 times this season - something else for Norman, Jack and Roy to work on

I was about to write a jokey response about Long seeking to out-do that. But thinking about it, he's hardly been offside (if at all) in these games under Hughes. Maybe another positive influence Hughes has had. (Possibly because we're getting the ball forward quicker, before Long gets offside.)

long has that really annoying habit of just walking to get back onside when the defence gets the ball out, if it gets played back in he is either offside or he has to let the ball pass him by, pisses me right off

The key to playing Leicester is to sit deep, exactly the same as we have against Arsenal and Chelsea to deny Vardy and Marez space behind us.
Completely the opposite tactic that MP deployed at SMS where he pushed high and gave Vardy an absolute free run to score at will.
Sit deep and frustrate them then break. Must play JWP to make the most of free kicks and corners.
    5-4-1 please

Interesting concept but I'm not sure JWP has the pace or dribbling skills to occupy an outside right position - yes I appreciate that's not what you're saying but really to be there, you've got to be able to do some of that & James doesn't really possess either.

I noticed Sat, after JWP went off (bad call from MH IMO - should have brought on Lemina to shore up middle - he provides good forward support - much better than Charlie in that situ) we were so lacking with all dead ball plays - christ, it seems JWP is the only player in our team who can take a decent free-kick / corner. Unfortunately, I feel James is a bit of a luxury player for us, just being there for the dead-ball situ's (love him to be much more, btw). Maybe we should play 12 & always include Prosey regardless.

Although I agree with your assessment of JWP and playing outside right, David Beckham managed to do a bloody good job and he couldn’t dribble and didn’t have any pace. Charlie and Gabby would both thrive if they knew we had a wide player who would get the ball, have one touch, drop his shoulder and whip a cross in to the box.

    .... just a thought.
