In terms of any hope of us staying up, I think it's better if Stoke win and West Ham lose

Might outlook is not being positive at all. All I am saying is that in my opinion, you calling him a fraud is out of order and over the top. The man didn’t do anything fraudulent against us. I think that’s a very poor opinion and way over the top. Many, many people think they are doing a good job. This man’s boss told him he was doing ok. Until recently, we didn’t take a hammering and so he may have thought he wasn’t far from getting it right.

Now I see you have disdain for the man because you know people who may lose their jobs, it explains that your post is an emotional one. That’s sad for them, but Just because he didn’t do his job better, doesn’t make him a fraud.

I’ll confirm again my post was not about whether he was inept or about how he did his job. It was not about me being positive, so no need to admire that. It was about you calling him a fraud. In my opinion, a ridiculous statement.

As I said in the match thread, four of our five games are winnable. Other than Swansea, they’re against clubs whose seasons are pretty much over.

It’s massively unlikely, but it is possible. A win against Leicester and a good cup performance, well....who knows.

Not that our board deserve anything but derision mind you.

It’s not nice for those people, but doesn’t make the coach a fraud.

That is true, but this team have won so few games this season that it has forgotten how to. it is a mental barrier that could be broken on thursday against Leicester but the odds are against atm.

Yesterday I was very clear in my mind. I was absolutely certain that a Palace win benefitted us more than a draw or Brighton win, despite us being closer to Palace. All because of each sides remaining fixtures thereafter.

    Tomorrow though, I can't decide.

Not a draw, I don't want that. I know it means that only two points are handed out, rather than three, but it also means that two of our rivals get something. We're beyond the position now of trying to juggle all these different balls, in terms of the number of possible teams we could finish above. We need two sides, whoever they may be, to just go on a dreadful run. If that means other sides around us winning, well so be it. Desperate times and all that. And particularly in the case of West Ham, if someone is happy for them to pick up one point tomorrow, then really they should be happy for them to pick up three points. Either way, they move further ahead of us.

But who do I want to win?

A West Ham win clears the picture up somewhat. It almost certainly keeps West Ham, and it almost certainly sends Stoke down. So bad news and good news for us.

A Stoke win gives them hope, but does also keep West Ham in it. Looking at their respective fixtures beyond that, Stoke would still have a real chance. Home games against Burnley and Palace, and a last-day trip to Swansea. The potential for points there is greater than our potential for points, in my view, when you include the two point lead Stoke would have over us. But at the same time, two of those games are post a trip to Anfield. So if they weren't to beat Burnley, and then lost to Liverpool, those last two games might not matter for Stoke. West Ham meanwhile follow this with two tough looking matches. They lose tomorrow, and they could still be on 34 points after 35 games. If we've got any chance of staying up, we too need to pretty much need to be 34 points from 35 games. Maybe 32 points. But their last three matches do look nicer than our last three.

Decision time. I'll go with wanting a West Ham win. But I don't think a Stoke win would be an awful outcome.

(PS. I've heard a few people say that keeping Stoke involved would be good for us, come that last-day trip for them to Swansea. Yes, quite obviously, it means that they both can't win. And yes, it might present Swansea with a tougher match. But Stoke need to overtake two sides to get to 17th, not just Swansea. Who do people propose that second side would be?...)

Always have a chance when it is still mathematically possible.

WBA result at Old Trafford today proves that predicting results isn't an exact science.

It's a reasonable supposition to suggest that a team that has only won 5 games in 33 will struggle to win 3 in the last 5, not saying it can't be done though.

Why would Austin go to QPR?

Is Cedric a Mendes client? There is a good chance he will end up at Wolves if he is.

I don't really care where he ends up, he definitely won't be here if we do go down.

Do you think they need a RB who can't cross and is out of position a lot?

We may need to get him off our books because we can't afford his wages, but I don't see loads of offers coming in from the PL.

They let him go though didn't they. What makes you think they will want him back?

They had to let him go as his contract was running out so £4m was better than nothing......and they enquired about his position at the club last summer.....and with what wage he is on (rumoured £55,000 without bonuses) he and amongst others will be gone as we can't/won't pay them wages in the championship.

Still highly possible that both Brighton and Huddersfield finish on 35 points given their fixtures.

So yes, 2 wins and a draw. Not impossible. Even if we lose on Thursday.

I guess not, especially as we couldn't gaurantee his fitness anyway. Don't suppose Gabbi will still be here either. Hopefully we can hold on to Long.
