Finished Runaways (Marvel) though it was good, 8/10. Very open ended at the moment, clearly set-up for the next series.
Yeah it's very good. About the darknet and a cryptocurrency start-up company involving a hacker, a banker and a Haitian. Season 2 introduces Ron Perlman too. I enjoyed it very much.
I worked in Amazon Customer Service for a while. One of the most common contacts was people who'd taken the Prime trial and forgotten to turn the auto-renew off, so the charge kicked in. It was no problem refunding them, so most went away happy and some were even happier if they had an order arrive late or not at all, because they'd get a month's extension of their Prime, even if it was the trial. And we'd have to take their word for it, even if there was a signature for the delivery, because who knows who signed for it with just a squiggle of a sig? So yeah, there's quite a few extensions that go on, no questions asked. All the CSA wants is for you to click Yes on the email they send. And Jeff Bezos is already rich enough, so he doesn't care if a few are a little dubious. Not that I'm encouraging it, mind.
Wish they'd bloody get some shows on there. Been waiting for Jack Ryan. Guess what coming in 2018 having been advertised first in summer 2017 has become august 2018!!! Wtf.
I did the free trial over Xmas to help get gifts on time (my wife has a student prime account... But student accounts don't let family members ship). I made maybe 7 or 8 purchases during that month and only about 2 things arrived when they said it would. I didn't know I could get a free month for that. I was very unimpressed overall that their two day shipping meant nothing because it was all late. I had no intention of paying though and cancelled once Xmas was over. Not with my wife having a student account I wasn't going to pay. The Mrs. Has graduated now so next year will have to get a full version of prime and I can link my account to it. Not that I trust prime shipping after the trial was so unreliable.
The one day delivery is timed from shipping, not time of order. That's a common mistake people make. And remember they're just shipping it. it's the couriers who are late with the deliveries. Sometimes stock isn't available in the UK, so they'll ship it from outside, so your order isn't delayed waiting for stock. And every retailer uses the same couriers. I've had problems with eBay, too, as a buyer and a seller. Had a guy said he'd returned a pair of Tom Ford sunglasses to me but they never arrived. The tracking confirmed it, so eBay gave me the refund back and eventually the sunglasses turned up by another courier, so the guy obviously had them and was trying to scam me. Royal Mail had a target for first class of 95% success and they admitted on their own website they failed. And at Christmas it's obviously going to be affected even more. So order early to get replacements if orders don't arrive in time. Some couriers are better than others and Amazon measure everything, so they know who's better than others in every postcode. They moved a button on our software because it cut mouse movement by a fraction of a second, which over hundreds of people in a year was a lot of time saved. That's how obsessive they are about counting. Sometimes they'll ship with a courier because they can get it shipped quicker. If they're using the same courier for all your orders and there's consistent failure, they'll restrict that courier from getting your orders. I did it myself, going through back orders to show consistency. Six orders was enough. I don't want to big-up their tax policies or employment practises but their customer service is undeniably excellent. They set a high recruitment bad and the call centres are encouraging environments. I went as a temp and stayed for 3 years because it was cool. They give staff the tools and freedom to do the job and the priority is to make a happy customer. 15% refund is standard for damaged items if you keep it but I had a guy who'd bought some car parts that were very heavy and would've cost a lot to return. He asked if I could do better than 15%. I didn't know but checked the dropdown list and it went up to 50%, so I gave it to him and didn't need anybody's authority to do it. I worked in the team that took the calls for returning customers, who hadn't had the problem solved on first contact. We got frustrated by the overseas staff, who'd make a lot more mistakes, until somebody who'd been over there told us the conditions they work in. They got 45 seconds to deal with somebody before they were given another contact. We got 15 minutes before a manager would consider asking if we needed any help. No wonder they were telling people anything just to get rid of them. So if you don't get through to a UK rep immediately, hang up and try again.
You get one day shipping over there? It's two day for prime over here. I didn't make a mistake. The invoice would say "guaranteed delivery date" and the package would arrive after the guaranteed delivery date. I don't have a problem with a package taking 4 days to arrive. I have a problem with a "guaranteed delivery" being one or two days after they promise.
Have to say... every package I got came on time or early. The one I kept getting caught with was the "doesn't deliver to NI" being buried 2 or 3 pages under the item page that stated UK delivery ..... bit annoying since all it would take is (mainland only) added to item page. Rather than order processed and an email a day later saying "actually sorry can't process order ...."
Reading this i just realised i got the prime trial for free delivery on something and forgot to cancel it, have a week left on the month i've unknowingly paid for so will just rinse the **** out of movies and tv till the end of the week and then cancel, looking at watching Turn and Outlander now As for Amazon I like it and never had a problem with it, delivery has always been as expected
On episode 4 of Lost in Space..... ok. Robots pretty cool. Drs either not camp evil enough or dark evil enough. Rest of cast ok so far.
I've only occasionally had a problem with the free 5 day shipping for non prime members spending $25. But my prime trial failed to live up to expectations.
