I cannot see why we have a squad filled with attacking, pacey players, perfect for counter-attacking, but would not take our best midfield quarterback... Shelvey's reputation is the only reason he is not in contention, and whether that is deserved or not is down to each individual to decide.
Of course he should be. Livermore looks out of his depth at the worst team in the league. Henderson is a mouth breather who can only pass sideways. Wilshere is a crock
It’s okay @ValleyGraduate12 will tell you that Swansea have never had a manager as good as Rafa and that that’s the difference.
I am not a fan of taking players who have not been involved in the two years previous. It is normally a recipe for disaster. However I think he will have to make an exception for Shelvey. Shelvey knows he only has himself to blame if he doesn't go. He has not been pickable for quite some time. Even this season prior to Xmas his form was not great. However some of that was perhaps down to the manager not having us set up quite right. Since Xmas he has been superb. Such is the problems we have in central midfield, he is needed. I look at the options and Dier is a shoe in. I'd take Lewis Cook as his back up for the experience but it will probably be Henderson. Then you need a mix. I'd take Ox, Shelvey, Lallana and Alli. Wilshere and Barkley should have been making that a tricky selection but they haven't. I think Shelvey gets in on merit now despite his form run being short. Also consider he had a good championship season. Whereas its an easier level and in no way an indicator for international football, it is still a good form spell.
