    Fizzy is for ****s!

Red. Latest hot discovery is Terre di Faiano Organic Primitivo.

Chance purchase from Sainburys, but what an amazing find for just about a tenner.

Wine labels usually talk a load of bollocks about the taste: An incredibly sexy nose of smoke, black fruits, cappuccino, and toasty wood etc, etc but this one actually does all it says on the label. Black fruit at first, then chocolate with a strong vanilla finish.

My preference is red. I think there is a lot of snobbery around wine, but I also think that's a British thing. I honestly think that our European cousins tend to have a better "nose" for wine.
I will have a look out for the wine you have mentioned, next time in Sainsbury's.

    Good thread <ok>

I’ve loved a glass of red since I hit about 30, and know what I like and don’t like, but I wouldn’t profess to be an expert, and tbh think people speak a load of bollocks about wine at times. I’ll look out for that one though and give it a whirl.

As a general rule of thumb I rarely spend more than about £15 on a bottle to have at home, and of late have hardly bought any, as I’ve rarely fancied a drink tbh.

Deidre is your man for this one I reckon

Depends on the time of day. Red at night. White in the morning. Red in the morning is a bitch to get down.

Not a massive wine drinker to be honest but I prefer white to red when I do have a glass or two.

    <laugh>

I was told exactiy that by the bride’s fatherat a Polish-American wedding I went to when living in NYC.

I got talking to the guy at the reception at his house. We got on pretty good and he says ‘You come with me’. Into the kitchen, and out of freezer comes this bottle of Polish vodka. “Wine, women’s drink, men drink vodka’” Ended up drinking the whole bottle between us.

Some polish Vodka is MAD .

When I was in Finland for Xmas in 1982 visiting a penfriend , her dad owned a farm . Alcohol was so expensive they used to dilute Vodka with pure surgical Spirit !

They all drink that **** like water out that way. One of my sons is married to a Slovakian girl. Whenever they go over to visit, my son says you get offered vodka everywhere you go. At all times of the day too!..

Never tried it but i see it comes from Salento in Puglia (Apulia) - South East coast of Italy, beautiful climate and region. Made me smile you using the word vino and following it with the words red or white, at least you got them grammatically in the right order <laugh>

Although expect the price would probably only be a couple of quid if bought when visiting the region. Even prosecco is only a couple of quid for a DOC/G, well unless you buy from rip off hotels and tourist bars.

Most men that drink wine have beards, and we all know what we think of men with beards.<whistle>
