Moura showing what we signed him for. That aside, another first 20 mins eff-up that put the game beyond us.
A poor display against a better team. These bloody slow starts are survivable against lesser sides but not someone like Citeh. They have to sort it out before next weekend or it'll be another season of missed opportunities.
Well, that was a feckin' disappointment...... Very poor from too many of the team who have performed so well this season. The only positive thing is that Lucas has shown enough to get a starting place. Sanchez had one of his 'Bambi on Ice' games and Lamela again failed to deliver when needed
Meh. Nothing short of what I expected. We made some mistakes, but city could have had 5 or 6. Just a great side who are walking the league for a reason. Just gotta pick ourselves up and bounce back on Tuesday.
The only positive from that match was Lucas Moura showing what a serious talent we have acquired on the cheap. Dier and Lloris continue to worry me deeply to the extent that I'm not too bothered if the former wants to go to United in the summer. Lloris deserves another season as he hasn't made this many mistakes in any previous year. But as others have said - there is no justification for him wearing the armband. Difficult to be harsh on Dave but he does clearly struggle against attacks with serious talent and guile. I worry for the semi final next week if Maureen actually lets his attackers attack. Clear that we need a proper replacement for Toby though. Suggestions that Dave and Jan can be backed up by Foyth and CCV are farcical. Must-win against Brighton on Tuesday or I fear a bit of a wobble that could see us lose at the weekend too.
Very important game. Character required against a Brighton side who will be at us from the off. We must start Lucas and get him some serious game time before the SF. He showed enough today against the best team in the PL that he can give us something different.
He's a great player. Just made a number of mistakes that remind me of the Walker of old back when he had Siggurdson "protecting" him. But yes, miles better than our current options at RB.
Is Toby injured? If fit, I have to question Poch’s handling of this situation as we should be fielding our strongest possible team.
No something has gone wrong with the board for me I am unable to initiate a comment or move from a thread I am only able to reply to a post on the thread I am on Very strange/
I have a feeling he'll play against Brighton in order to give Dave or Jan a rest ahead of the SF. Other than that, I don't think we'll see him again unless we've secured top 4 before the end of the season.
Last season, Walker was fit after the fallout and played **** when he was picked. Toby's gone. Short of an injury crisis, we won't see him again. He sleeps with the fishes.
I know its easy to say in hindsight but we went into this match scared of what City can do to us by playing Lamela instead of Son. That first 20 minutes was abysmal, we all know City are a fantastic side but we were so placid and just marked spaces instead of pressing them high. Again we concede goals in big matches. 2 clean sheets in 16 games - City - 7 Liverpool - 3 Chelsea - 3 Arsenal - 2 United -1 Borussia Dortmund - 2 Real Madrid - 2 Juventus - 4 Sanchez has been excellent for us but today he was all over the place and its Imperative we keep Alderweireld. Kane was awful today, the poorest 90 from him for a long time, a complete passenger. Is he unfit or stll cagey about his ankle because that wasnt the real Kane. Finally, at least that's our last difficult game over and done with. Game in hand on Liverpool and if we beat Brighton on Tuesday we will go level with them. 7 ahead still of Chelsea and so this midweek match is a MUST win. Id like to see Moura and Son start either side of Kane with Dier, Dele and Eriksen in a midfield three.
Toby will go to the World Cup and be in the shop window. He’ll have some good performances for Belgium and Levy will haggle to get top dollar for him. Sadly his time at Spurs is done. We can’t give him anywhere near what wants so it’s over.
I'm dreading the gap being narrowed to 5 or even 4 points ahead of the SF. As you say, we MUST bounce back with a win against a tricky but beatable Brighton side. Hopefully Chris will remember his loyalties and tell his players to score an own goal if we need a late winner. I think we'll see quite a few changes on Tuesday to keep legs fresh for United. Rose, Aurier, Wanyama, Son and possibly Sissoko/Moura could all be in the team. Wouldn't be remotely surprised to see us go with: Hugo Aurier Dave/Toby Jan Rose Sissoko Wanyama Alli Eriksen Son Kane
