We used to score blow from some flats in Thamesmead. My mate had an ex-riot van with the jam sandwich taken off. It still had the grills over the windows and re-enforced body and locks etc. So we felt safe going down there to score in that. ****ing horrible ****hole sink estate.
Haha with the Rover V8 in it? A mate of mine had one, used to go like **** off a shovel. Not sure I’d have gone on some ****hole estate in it though, you’d have looked like ****e undercovers ffs
Dunno what engine it had. His one had a big anarchy sign painted on the bonnet and ****ty curtains in it, so I reckon we looked legit. He used to go off up to the 12th floor of some horrible flat and tell me to stay in the van and lock the doors.
****ing Ferrier estate man, what a hovel. Remember me and a mate going down there to dump his Suzuki SJ410 in a lake for an insurance job. Think they pulled that estate down and rebuilt there now.
They filmed some of Nil by Mouth on The Ferrier if I remember correctly. Brave and ****ing stupid Also Pepys used to have The Bill filmed on it occasionally. Funny story about that as it goes but cba to type it on my phone
I knew a bloke who worked for Otis lifts and they wouldn't repair the lifts unless they had a police escort. 3 or 4 lift engineers had been mugged for their tools.
Clockwork Orange filmed in Thamesmead Pepys was dangerous. I used to do a paper round there, so I just went unnoticed as the paper boy. But I saw the evidence of the **** that went on there. Looking back, you'd never sent a 13 year old kid out on his own to one of the sketchiest estates in London, but back then it was like, you want money, you go and get a job.
Pepys was very dangerous. I came of age on that estate and knew loads of people so was fine there. Unfortunately I saw some things I can't unsee.. but in a weird way I miss certain aspects of it. Bizarre thing to say I know!!
I used to see blood in the stairwells of those flats and I found a half finger once in one of the playgrounds. I never really got involved in any of that gang ****. I was always into football and swimming so that kept me occupied. Then I got into smoking weed and taking acid and became a bit of a crusty indie kid and used to hang out at the Venue in New Cross and the Fordham park festival. Remember that ?
Page Moss is as rough as a bears arse(part of Huyton, or Two Dogz Fightin'), Rooney's old neighborhood Croxteth(Crocky)well known gang and gun fighting ****hole, and many many more, in fact too many to mention.
Is Toxteth still rough? I went to the gym there and seen some right bad looking ****ers. They seemed to be quite a few Jamaicans living there too.
Part of it is quite gentrified these days, back in the 80’s parts of it were no go areas for even the filth. You’d get racist abuse as a white kid in parts lol.
Like a lot of places in London. Deptford, Camberwell, Hackney, etc. All war zones in the 80's, now populated by Jemima and Rupert types choosing bathroom fittings on sunday afternoons.
Toxteth isn't as bad as it was but it's not great. I used to live in Aigburth (pretty nice to be honest) a mile away and drive through Toxteth all the time. Norris Green and Croxteth were much worse though. I went to a few clients out in Croccy and the first thing I was told before going was not to question any of the kids. They used to just cycle around all afternoon (not in school of course) and deliver drugs for a local gangs. If you want to get taken out just stop one of them and ask for directions.
