@luvgonzo and I have discussed this before and his personal experience of the band was really interesting... Word Gets Around by Stereophonics was a brilliant album. Great tunes and lyrics, similar to Arctic Monkeys in that respect. In my opinion almost without exception each subsequent album has been that little bit worse.
Their first albums told stories and the songs meant something. Not heard anything in their subsequent albums that make me take any notice. On another note I'll add Generation Terrorists by the Manics as a great debut. Bit biased though as they're my favourite band and seeing them for the 15th time in May
I had a few in mind, then i read this. So i'm going to agree. Not that it was the best music, but it changed everything.
The Velvet Underground & Nico Pixies: Surfer Rosa The Byrds: Mr Tambourine man PJ Harvey: Dry Big Star: #1 Record The Who: My Generation Steely Dan: Can't Buy A Thrill Rockpile: Seconds Of Pleasure Yes, i've been searching my record collection...
I think it's better when we all post whatever good song video on internet and listen to the songs as the medium is clearly ultra selective depending on their taste.
