.................and here's Malky's choice. Is Blake in there instead of Mason to get Whitts further forward? 01 Marshall 02 McNaughton 03 Taylor 05 Hudson 06 Gerrard 07 Whittingham 08 Cowie 11 Conway 23 Blake 09 Miller 10 Earnshaw Substitutes 22 Heaton, 14 Quinn, 04 Kiss, 15 Gestede, 20 Mason
Blake must take up the defensive "dog" role at the rear of the diamond in front of the back 4. That means Whitts in the hole in the point of the diamond supplying Earnie and Miller. I'll wager playing there will get Whitts a goal himself today.
Can see (hear) why Pompey don't score many. We'll step it up 2nd half. Throw Rudy and Mason on at some point and come away with all 3pts
What will the half time talk from Malky do for us? To be honest, I hope a bit better than DJ's efforts last year that seemed to make the lads go off the boil. Anyone else get the impression from what we can hear that some of the lads at the back are still too keen to lump it up rather than use the midfield? Earnie and Miller are having some service, but it's not ideal - Gestede should come on in that case. With Portsmouth looking about as dangerous as Julian Clary, what about going for broke and bringing Mason on for Blake second half?
