Of course Dave's not good enough. I've yet to see anyone on here saying he is. I was heartened to see three QPR youngsters coming through (Hewitt on the bench). That added to our recent and forthcoming in-takes convinces me that the Toon game plus the January window are likely to see us more than survive.

Throughout the summer I was always agreeing with Swords' concerns that we were nowhere near good enough... but that was before Bothroyd, Gabbidon and DJC arrived (not to mention the versatile Dyer). Add to them the eternally driven Barton at the top of his already accomplished game, Luke Young and two or three other Prem-able additions and we'll be giving top clubs something to think about.

If the rub had been a fraction different, even our no-mark side would have got a result today...

Thought we were ok and should have got a draw ,luck was with Wigan . We totally lack pace but that was obvious last season . Gabbidon ,Derry and Taarabt played well and look good enough . Hall ,Faurlin,Ageymang and buzsaky poor and dont think any of them are good enough at this level . Jury is out on the rest but was impressed with both youngsters and feel Warnock should have started with both as Ageymang is embarrassing and it would have made sense to start with a proper full back .

Lads, relax. We all knew that we would have good and bad days. This is just one bad day. Our team is not good enough now but it will be soon, and we WILL finish above wigan, no doubt about it. Too many guys here rate our average unproven players too highly. I'm going to be straight and honest by saying that players like Adel, Buz, Alil, Smith are still uproven or untested at this level. You simply cannot turn around and say that a player that plyed well or stood out in the Champ will automatically be class in the Prem. It does not work like that. Our team is untested and unproven in the Prem. Two weeks ago i thought we were bucked. Our Squad and Team is pretty average. But now we are starting to add players who are PROVEN at both international and Prem level. This is fact. We will get stronger. We will win matches. But, we will loose plenty as well, keep it balanced, keep it friendly and most of all, PLEASE KEEP IT REAL.

This post is a much better read than the other pile of tosh from the moaning minnies. Why can't some people ever see the black and white reality of the situation. We know we haven't got the right team at the moment, but that's changing and so will the results.

There just isn't any point worrying about the team as it stands because Warnock knows it isn't good enough and he's changing that. If he'd been able to buy players from the time of our promotion then it would be completely different now. Just have to be patient.

Oh and sky say that SWP has agreed terms and we look to have won the race.

Spot on Lone Ranger, some posters are expecting miracles, today's team was as 'scratch' as you'll see from us this season, with a little luck they'd have nicked something from the game, chill out and wait for the new signings to make their mark.

Spot on TLR. Could understand the moaning when the club and ownship was imploding and it all looked like curtains. Not the case now though is it?!

Wubba (love him) has got the hump because his long awaited trip to Wigan proved to be a reality check for our eternal optimist... even the pies turned out to be disappointing!

Fact is the Championship winning side (depleted today) was never going to be good enough for the prem but as it happened, stood up well today under the circs. If it hadn't been for two deflected opportunist strikes, a win for the Rs today was always a possibility, especially once Bothroyd got on. Looking forward to seeing more of Harriman and Andrade and great to see Hewitt in the first team reckoning.

People have been asking why play the likes of Agyemang, Buzsaki, Connolly, Hall...

Could it be that Warnock's trying to get shop window exposure in the hope of sales of affordable 'prem' players to lower league sides? Just a thought following the Gorkss transfer...

Bang on we were not that bad and passion blinds those you can't control it . There are massive positives and I have always believed in the team
Rub of the green in the prem can be the difference we will adapt and we will finish 8th

Although i was dissapointed with Aygymang and yes we lost 2-0, its not the end of the world.
I went on the Reading board to see how Gorkss played today and was greeted by a post that said: 'Leigertwood one season wonder' , Seems after winning a contract he has been dire this season and they are getting fed up with him.
We are now in the Premiership and whether we win ,lose, draw we should enjoy it because i would rather be in the Prem than the Championship.
I am sure by the time we play Newcastle we will see a very different team.

When I saw the line-up, I changed my prediction from a 2-1 win to a 2-1 defeat. 4 centre backs and Dave - suggested we'd struggle at the back and up front. Based on the majority of posts, we all knew what might happen but were surprised by a game we could have drawn or maybe nicked.

Gabbidon was best defender AGAIN - a good buy therefore - but pace remains the issue for the others. I'm sure NW has plans to address. Harriman looked a good prospect (in time).

Taarabt's work rate was much better yesterday and although that is the last time we see that line up in mid, thought they did well enough to create many opportunities (19 attempts on goal with 9 on target - compare that to last week!!!). I am looking forward to seeing what Barton and Tarbs can do together.

Dave was occasionally a nuisance to the Wigan backs, but mostly to us. Should have left him up North to to take kiddies on rides at the beach.

Both still impresses and I wonder if there isn't a hamstring niggle - see post from Bolton game. Should have done better at the end.

Andrade looked sharp (do I mean quick?) and was another bright part. Perone looked better in their box than ours, but that's the first I've seen of him tbf.

Disappointed with the result, but looking forward to the Newcastle game and seeing who else NW can bring in to take us to Prem standard.

    A good thread

Certainly hope so. It's clear what we think about these players. We're only assuming nw thinks the same.

Don't tell Brummie Boy or Bakes for that matter. As we speak they are meticulously chiseling away on a huge quartz rock, making a huge statue of Akos Buzsaky so they can worship their false idol <devil>

apologies if repeating what others have said but watching the sky extended highlights, we were really very near them. Even Shearer agreed that there was an element of luck and yesterday was just not our day.

Probably thinks he can make a big impact...which I'm pretty sure he can. Someone like him would have been the difference yesterday. Can't fault the effort of the current players but we probably do need just a little bit extra now. With the new signings we are in a much better position than Swansea and Norwich and surely we cannot finish below at least those two this season.
