Totally agree. If you look at the recent past; Claude Puel had to employ defensively orientated tactics due to the defensive frailties (VvD injury / Fonte's moody distruptions) that he had to manage as best he could. This season, VvD scenario caused more grief and, unfortunately, Jack Stepphens has been found wanting ~ basically, he ball watches too much and ain't strong enough in the air for a c/back. Good goin' forward but then, that's what Hoedt (international class) was bought for as the club were expecting him to develop & slot in alongside VvD and occasionally Yoshida.
I'd rather we went to a back 4 than play Bednarek or Jones for their PL debut ... or even move Bertrand into the left cb and give McQueen a game.
Hughes said that Davis was our only absentee this weekend - but I haven't seen McQueen training in the videos though.
