Been backing captain Redbeard for the last few weeks 100,, 80 and 50s, ground will be right for him, just needs to get into a nice rhythm and a bit of luck obviously, but he will have no weight to carry and loves the mud

Given the current (and continuing) weight of money for Baie Des Iles, the fact that the Weekender’s ‘flagship tipster’ (the publications words not mine) has put him up and given the forecast of further rain it really wouldn’t surprise me if this one went off fave come ‘tapes up’.

If he goes off fav (or near fav) that would make Thunder and Roses look interesting at 66/1 (if he gets in)

It really is guess work 're the ground at present although it does dry quite quickly at Aintree. I think it will be soft but will have to wait until Saturday morning as ground conditions will influence my picks.

My advice to people is wait until Saturday morning around 9/10am as you will know what the ground is going to be and around this time bookies will be pushing their odds out to attract business. You won't get much better odds now compared to Saturday morning when you will know a lot more...

I don’t live far from Aintree (Wirral). It’s dry at the moment but showers forcast for Thursday & Friday, dry Saturday. Good to soft I reckon for the big one

Could be Karlos ...but no one can be certain. In fact I just looked at weather forecast for Saturday and it says showers Saturday afternoon. That could complicate matters even further if it's difficult to say how much rain will fall...:emoticon-0100-smile

No runner for Lieutenant Henderson in the Grand National. Gold Present has been taken out of the race at the final declaration stage. Oh how the forum must be lamenting! This is akin to fish without chips, strawberries without cream, the Boat Race without Oxford, an episode of ‘Richard and Judy’ without Judy and, indeed a Lieutenant without his Privates.

All Dr Chuckles can prescribe is that, people, you try to hide your disappointment stoically.

Minella Rocco now a non-runner 'on account of the ground'. Thunder and Roses fans your boy is now guaranteed a run.

Just had a quick look at the runners and have come to the conclusion that none of them can win it. There will only be 3 left standing at the last and all 3 will refuse. Bound to happen.
