I was just reading an article from 1964 telling us about all the roadworks he hit following the game at Deepdale midweek and it got me thinking!

A few seasons back I was lucky enough to get a ticket for the Liverpool - Leeds League Cup game. On my way back to Southampton, there were literally a dozen diversions taking me miles out of my way. I finally got back at 6.15am, nearly eight hours later.

Similarly, following the Wendies game I decided to cut my losses, leave my hotel early, and drive back through the snow in case I got stranded in the snow on Sunday. You have to bear in mind, that being a Southerner, we very rarely get to see snow, let alone the mutated snowballs that were falling from the sky.

There were more then a few times my heart was in my mouth, especially as you could only see 20 yards in front of you. Fortunately 7 hours later I made it back to Southampton.

What is the longest journey / longest time that you have travelled following Leeds?

Any good stories - Let's hear them

What about the Swedes, Norwegians, Dames and Icelandic fans who fly in, ferry in every match, some even doing home and away.

Well done Chippy too from Harrogate

Mentioned in a previous post about bumping into a couple of the Norwegian lads after the Sunderland game. Not only were they staying on for Preston last night but will be back for Barnsley and QPR before the end of the season.

Top guys and really enjoyed having a few beers with them but what impressed me the most was how they refused to be swayed from their support in any way shape or form despite the woeful performances of late.

Why didn't you fly to Nice Airport.

Probably the same reason you chose not to stay in the city centre for your recent road trip to ER.

Bear Grylls has nothing on you guys.

I was 6 miles away. Chesh chose to drive for 24 hours, and 2500 kilometres. Nice is 20 kilometres from Monico

True but we were snowed in at the Peacock for 3 hours...lucky you got away when you did otherwise you would have really struggled to get back to your hotel.

Yes I did because I was meant to be flying back that same day, but the coppers made me miss it. Got back late Sunday night. But It still wasn't as time consuming as the ferry trips. After the Donny play off game at Wembley about 8 of us missed the flight that day from Stanstead because we stayed all day in a pub outside a station in London and the trains were delayed when we got them.<wah>

Not on the epic scale but 6 hours to get back from Newcastle a couple of years ago after the league cup.
A1 shut at multiple places and diverted through Gateshead, Durham, darlo and Thirsk. Due to planned overnight roadworks.
Could have all been avoided by two signs directing southbound traffic to the fully open A1.
    Go and we lost... Again.

Worst trip by ferry was for a game against Oldham 86/87 when my 7th month pregnant mot and two year old came over. A game we lost 2 nil. No staying in a hotel in those days. Fecking horrendous....<yikes>
