Apparently TPs 100th Premier League game in charge of Stoke tonight. Given the regularity that clubs change managers, all credit to Peter Coates for continuity and to TP for reaching that milestone. Some may not like his style of play but he has done fantastic for Stoke and whilst we moan sometimes, we are really in dreamland in the Premier League. That said tough to see us getting anything tonight. 2 points in last 26 games at Anfield, even if we did pulverise them at Stoke earlier this year. If we can sneak one or stay level until half time and shut their crowd up you never know.
Northern Stokie It sure is going to be tough. And ANYTHING we did get tonight I would be over the moon. My hope is, we don't damage our goal difference too much. And, I HOPE we go and " have a go" I doubt T.P. will though.
I'm hoping we play the wingers tonight, try to get up the pitch and give them something to think about rather than sit back. I'm hoping for a point to be honest though we will get few better chances as they are not at their best this season. We have Ryan out which won't help but I think they have defensive issues of their own. You never know we might just pinch it.
I doubt we'll play both wingers jowler, it'll be a midfield of Rory, Deano, Wilson (or even Diao, sorry just a feeling I have!!) and Etherington. We'll be lucky to get a point tonight. Liverpool look like they've got a bit of swagger for the first time in a couple of years so I reckon it'll be 2 or 3-0 to Liverpool. If we get to half time level, then who knows but I doubt it, much more chance against Sunderland on Saturday.
SGT, Going by the stats we don't do very well at Anfield but they've just lost Torres, Gerrard has been out and Carragher is still out. We don't know what will happen or how well they will gell. I'd be happy with a point but we may not get one and if that's the case so be it. I agree we do have a better chance against Sunderland but if we can go into our games with a can do attitude we just may get past the post a little earlier and be able to attract that better class of player to move us forward for next season. Up the POTTERS!!!
I don't doubt it Sgt, but this is his first game in unfamiliar surroundings, for a team he hasn't played for against a team he knows nothing about. He could be brilliant but so was Ronaldo and he didn't do that much against us. The thing is we don't know how it will turn out but if we give it a go it may and only may work out for us.
Interesting starting lineup - we certainly look a bit light on the left side tonight with Pennant on the right and effectively 3 central midfield players - not sure who's going to draw the short straw and actually play on the left - Higgy at left back is going to be a bit exposed I think. Delap left out ... TP must think he needs a rest - that's where I'd have him for every game personally ..... and good to see Jones dropped to the bench - might give him a bit of a kick up the proverbial. Stoke * 01 Begovic * 03 Higginbotham * 04 Huth * 25 Faye * 28 Wilkinson * 12 Wilson * 15 Diao * 16 Pennant * 18 Whitehead * 19 Walters * 22 Carew Substitutes * 29 Sorensen, * 05 Collins, * 06 Whelan, * 24 Delap, * 26 Etherington, * 09 Jones, * 10 Fuller
Jowler BANG goes the TWO wingers theory mate. HOLD on this could be ugly defend, defend and oh ...t they score. HOPE I am way out?
And Liverpool are playing 3-5-2 by the sounds of it, does that mean Glen Johnson is on the right wing? Dalglish might as well play him there as he cannot defend to save his life.
Jub HOW the hell are we not losing this, just seen that save online. BRILLIANT, absolutly brilliant save.
Sounds like Bego just made a cracking save. One of Pulis' best signings definitely, top 4 quality easily
The stream I'm watching is a bit jerky, but it's looking like Liverpool are having all the possession. Huth just deservedly been booked
