Great to be in this position and future looking good and we have a proper R’s manager now who is settling in with a great young team ... another season like this and we will ready for a bigger push

Those of little faith ... piss off you were wrong
This is the way to build a football team
We need to be well under the radar again where we belong

The only thing that worries me is his 'tinkering around' and bizarre selections and tactics. More importantly, will we keep the players? It's okay saying in 'another season' and for TF to say we are building a young team but we will see during the summer if they want to cash in.

Holloway isn't going anywhere, we should accept that - arguments for and against him are finely balanced. He can be criticised for counter-intuitive tactics at times, which inevitably don't pay off - however, he does seem to have an eye for a decent player at low cost, so I'll be interested to see what business he does over the summer. There is promise in our team, and if he can get rid of some dead wood and strengthen, we could well challenge for top six next season, if Holloway doesn't shoot his players in the foot with over-clever tactics.

I think to be fair to Holloway his recent "tinkering" was due to injury or illnesses

Thoroughly enjoyed that visit last night

I thought Jack Robinson was top draw, made a superb tackle in the box at 4-2 to put an end to Sheff Wed last threat. Paul Smyth looked exciting and I also thought Bright Samuel grew in confidence as the game went on. It was refreshing to see us have some pace in the forward areas.

The only disappointment was surprisingly Luke Freeman. Looked flat and in need of a rest to be honest.

I'm sure Ray would have been happy with that result

Yeah, fair point. I couldn't get to the match but the highlights video shows him getting dragged into the centre of the defence, towards the ball, leaving a man out wide to score Wednesday's first goal. Then he was beaten to the header for the second. Disappointing. In mitigation, he did produce a wonderful cross for Sylla's short-range headed goal.

He has shown lots of promise, though, and hopefully he'll learn from the occasional mistake and a few words on the training ground.

I'm not sure anyone will want to hear this after another win and four goals but after a run of very decent home performances at HQ this was, ironically, our worst showing at home for some time. While we undoubtedly took full advantage, the crazy scoreline after 15 minutes was primarily down to comedy defending/goalkeeping from Wednesday. It could easily have been 4 or 5 in that first frantic period but thereafter the away side took control of possession and looked far more threatening than the Rs. The team was a bit makeshift of course but there were some markedly poor individual performances:-
Freeman: this was his worse showing in the hoops IMO. Constantly slowing down our attacks, turning into trouble, passing blind and losing the ball.
Sylla: yes I know he got 2 of our 4 but don't be fooled as overall this was his usual inept performance. He has possibly the worst first touch of any player I can remember, can't run with the ball and clearly doesn't understand the offside law. I know we are desperate for strikers but...
    Cousins: ineffectual and slow.
Furlong: I'm his biggest fan and we really need him in the 4 across the back that is now working well for us but he looked shaky defensively all night and was responsible in part for both the Wednesday goals. And the fact that he needs a good 60 seconds to prepare for each of his long throws is getting frustrating as hell to watch.
Scowen: involved in pretty much everything but continued where he left off on Saturday with an overly aggressive approach. He was probably the last player Holloway wanted to take off but with a booking in hand and no sign of him reigning it in it was probably a wise choice.

On the plus side Smyth was brilliant yet again, harried the hapless Wednesday defence mercilessly and showed true strikers instinct when taking his early goal. The club should be nailing him and Eze to the floor before the transfer window opens. Also, while I'm pretty sure Robinson is already on his way, another assured performance meant it was easy to see why he is attracting attention.

I can't really moan about recent results and I agree that Hollow is going anywhere soon but I just hope we keep some of the best players.

On a note of good sportsmanship, did anyone else see their man touch hands with Smithies after the save that we all thought was going in at about 85 mins? Top drawer save and great sportsmanship from both. Good to see.

Yesterday was one of the better football days for me in a long while, QPR win, Man City lose, and Barcelone lose. Spent the evening with a big smile on my face.

No I didn't as I was away (and probably would not have gone anyway). My first post said He tinkers too much but he is doing better than I ever thought he would.

Not sure I agree with his assessment on Cousins. He looked short of confidence and off the pace to me last night. Antti Heniola seemed to think the same in his knee jerks article.

I was going to watch the whole game tonight but it doesn't seem to be on the Official'a site yet, just 11 minute highlights which didnt show so much of Cousins, except I think it was a strong header from him which gave Samuel the chance to run into their box and drew the penalty.

It’s all still a bit of a mixed bag really isn’t it. I don’t think even DT is completely convinced despite his blinkered gung ho posts!
There’s far too many twists and turns to go to even say we’re ready for a push in a season or so.
I just feel that Holloway has been more lucky than skilful and resourceful, but I’m happy to be shot down if we get what we all want.
So I still need to be convinced even after a very hard season, a season that has divided fans, a season that has seen fans keep away and lose interest and question investing in their season tickets - there’s an underlying truth there that should not be ignored.
I’d love our club to be up there challenging; but I also want us to play good, attractive and successful football - first and foremost for the fans then for the club and the players. All that said ... thankfully we are back in the championship to give it another go next season ... and for that I am extremely thankful we have passed by that possible disaster. New season, fresh start and an interesting summer to get through yet.
Never a dull moment for us :)
