What foul? Not even Gerrard was having that ffs, VvD was more concerned with what he considered a poor ball from Karius than defending the situation properly. The referee and his team were ****ing awful though, a punch from Karius followed by Milner playing it goalwards and they give offside between the 3 of them......learn the rules.
Agreed there was no foul, I don't even think there was a touch. However, when a FB clears the ball and the defending player catches them forcing them to fall over, the refs usually give a freekick. As much as a joke these freekick are most of the time (much like the fouls on keepers), that happened when VVD kicked the ball up field (he kicked it centrally too ffs!!!). If we're going for consistency then that's a freekick. Imo, it shouldn't be and nor should most of the others we see.
Jurgen Klopp believes Liverpool beat 'the best team in the world' after Man City win http://www.skysports.com/football/n...the-best-team-in-the-world-after-man-city-win
Sterling pushed Van Dijk off the pitch. Was trying to get him into the crowd like Holgate but too weak. Zero attempt or ability to play the ball. That's a foul all day every day. Red card for Fernandinho on Mane too. Salah scoring doesn't change that, different phase of play.
I thought that was a foul on VvD, although his clearance was poor and he had drifted into a dangerous position on the pitch. Robbo must have been further up the pitch because it left a big hole for Sterling to exploit. Anyway, didn't matter in the end.
It was clearly a foul on VVD. And bashing Karius is what the pundits do even though there was nothing wrong with the throw.
Sterling actually does clip VVD initially and then barges him off the pitch. It’s a foul in either one of those cases. VVD shouldn’t have switched off but it was a foul. Having said that, we got lucky with a few decisions ourselves.
VVD didn't kick poorly because of the push, the push happens afterwards. But it does put VVD out of the game as a result. Doesn't help that he mashes a half hearted effort to get back in whilst complaining to the ref
Karius shouldn't have given it him imo. VVD had already told him to calm it down. I actually think it's part of the reason VVD (wrongly) reacts the way he did; frustration at Karius.
Wonder if the Uefa delegate managed to spot the large plume of blue smoke from the "illegal" pyrotechnic. please log in to view this image
He would never have made up the ground on Sterling anyway after being pushed off the park, regardless of his claims towards the ref.
Didn't matter, he should still try. He doesn't know what's going to happen. If Sterling delayed the pass, VVD could have got there. Besides, he should have cleared the ball properly before attacking the ref / karius
i thought VVDs reaction was when he looked up and had no one to pass to he was asking hey wheres the support (and then ****s up the clearance)
Although they played well, I'm not convinced Robbo or Salah were 100%. There were a few occasions were I felt they go all out like they usually would. Looked like they were holding back at times
Strictly speaking, you don't want your CB drifting over to the touchline like that in the first 2 minutes of a massive game against a quality side. It limits your options to find a red shirt and leaves the space open should you lose possession
