Think we should get rid of FF in the summer...I feel that his reputation outside of Southampton still isn't the worst so we should still be able to get ok money for him and get a massive wage off the books. I feel he might get back to his old self elsewhere also, it's just one of those relationships that has grown stale. McCarthy is solid if unspectacular but is a reliable pair of hands in goals and would be good enough in the PL or championship
Eh? How is saying that McCarthy has been better this season (certainly in my eyes) a slap-down on Fraser? I haven’t back pedalled in the slightest. Twisting the stats? Where? I’ve said that I wouldn’t rely on judging a keeper on stats. Really not sure where you’re getting your inference from!
Well no, we’ve lost VVD (however half hearted he may have been) and we’ve only won once in the last 19 games. I don’t think FF is a bad keeper, I just (along with what i suspect is the majority of fans, along with the coaches) believe that right now AM is better (and has certainly done nothing to suggest to me he should be dropped, or is in any way to blame for the current position).
It's definitely not Tadic's fault, I was talking to his dad the other day and he said he should be played down the middle cos he's crap at crosses
A little too upstanding, especially regarding shots along the ground. But yeah, seems like a decent enough guy Certainly didn't deserve the dog's abuse he got from a section of our 'fans'.
It is probably best for both parties if he moves on, but he is on a (reported) fortune and still has a lot of time left on his deal. Guess it is whether he wants to take a probable pay cut for a fresh start or is settled here potentially being 2nd choice. Another master stroke by Les Reed giving him a new deal when he still ages left on his old one to tie down "one of the best keepers in the PL"
He was born and raised in a Cathothlic community...... and wasn't Easter a fortnight ago? Maybe that's why DT was somewhat invisible (again?)
Okay, I assumed he was Orthodox Christian. In the Orthodox calender, Easter is this weekend. Which is just as well, because we could do with a miracle. Edit; turns out Orthodox Easter was last weekend. So that's two Easters and no points; guess we're not coming back from the dead then.
I think you're missing the point here. Lots of fans want us to run around like headless chickens. Vin
I couldn’t disagree more. This old school English mentality of “run around a lot” has held the England team back for years. Football has evolved. The majority of our players need to run around more, I agree, but their lack of effort doesn’t make Long a good player. He has averaged around 5 goals a season in his PL career, apart from one anomaly season. The fact we have to rely on him as a lone striker is indicative of why we struggle. I think we will have to leave this conversation though, as you can’t seem to write a post without being abusive/swearing.
Apologies on that front. You're right, let's leave it. I don't think arguing over the importance of players running was ever either of our intentions. I like Shane, you don't. End of.
