Was always odd as he was clearly a Pellegrino signing who was on thin ice in January. They should’ve signed him and a couple of others if they wanted to back MP or not signed anyone he wanted if they were going to get rid. They did neither

hope we kept the receipt, barely used. I do however like his energy and now that we actually create for and support the striker pretty sure we will see more to come

Had we bought that quality pacy wide attacker that Pellegrino clearly wanted, he might've been a bit more effective.

You’re judging him better on 2 league games than Puel. Puel, who has finished better than him in the only two comparable seasons?

Pellegrino, Puel, me, you, Gabbi. Everyone other than Les, I would suggest.

If someone offers £14m in the summer, I'd take it without a second thought.

I still need to see more of him first. It might be that he could bag quite a few in the Championship, I don't know.

Yeah, should have clarified: that's if we survive. He'd be pretty reasonable in the Championship.

yeah i guess i am , i can't remember saints playing with as much fight as we did today for 18 months if not more ! Puel had us playing dreadful boring football and imo that was the start of the downfall .

Just on the train back from the game. Proud of our performance today. We really went at them. So good to have a manager who can change the formation/ shape of the team both before and during the game. Tactical nous has been in short supply this year.

Must be said that their fans are a disgrace. Booing the team after 20 minutes. It’s the quietest game in terms of home fans I’ve ever experienced!

Today has given me a glimmer of hope! COYR

I think Les Read has a lot of explaining to do about the shambolic management we have seen over the last two seasons

Completely disagree with your last paragraph. I know we like a scapegoat but exactly why Stephens has become public enemy number one all of a sudden.

He’s not public enemy number one ffs. He just isn’t as good as Yoshida or Hoedt and definitely isn’t a PL level centre back

I like Stephens, but Yoshida is much better then him both in the air and on the ground. Plus he's a good leader too. Something we've lacked all over the pitch this season.

Disagree again, Hoedt makes me very nervous.
Playing the three is a decent option but if a two I would have Yoshie and Stephens like last season over Wobbly Wes.
It wasn't just you I was referring too, there are a number of comments earlier in the thread appearing to blame him for all today's goals, daft comments

I'm a long way from convinced concerning Hoedt, as well, but if one CB has to be dropped -- and he really has to be dropped -- it's Stephens.. He isn't young enough for that to be an excuse for the terrible positioning errors he makes on a consistent basis, nor the balls he misjudges in the air.

Old debate so I won’t drag that one up again about Puel..

We played with lots of fight many times under Puel though.
