Australia shot above England in medal table....mainly due to swimming and cycling. Wonder how they cheated in those. Like the swimmers being interviewed under umbrellas in the open pool....despite being soaking wet already. Suspect it's for the media wimps. Good to hear Jerusalem as England's anthem. Great tune.
England get more gymnastics medals....gold and silver in men's all round. And our best Whitlock sat this competition out. I know these games don't include the USA or Europe, but we have also been successful in the Olympics. I find it amazing how things can turn around....years ago our gymnasts looked like lumbering elephants compared to many countries (especially the Eastern bloc), but now we have so many great gymnasts. Also good to see that women gymnasts look like real people instead of anorexic children (which many were in the sixties).
Lando Norris might be one to be keeping a close eye on. Not only because he has the best first name in motorsport.
Woke up at 3 o'clock this morning because of a nightmare about a certain football match Thank heavens for the Commonwealth games. Watched all 18 ends of Scotland's gold medal victory over Australia in the men's triple bowls. That's what I love about tournaments like this....you get involved in sports that you otherwise wouldn't watch. Great sea-saw match with bravery from the Scots to win at the last. And a gold for England in the hammer.
How does Nadal do it? Win 2 matches on the bounce after a couple of months out injured. I was hoping Zverev would have beaten him in their Davis Cup encounter, but alas no!! Why am I disappointed? It is because I do not like Nadal´s demeanour on court, the over the top fist pumping, the over the top squeals of delight. I just do not like him. He makes Andy Murray, when he gets excited, appear tame.
