I’ll look again, but to my mind it’s a ( fairly simple) riff. It’s not anything I would associate with being arpeggios.

I don’t believe I am wrong. As I’ve said, I’ll look at it again when I have time, but it’s not anything I’ve ever associated with arpeggios

Out of interest Hotel California sounds remarkably like Jefro Tulls 'We Used to Know'. Jeffr0 Tull toured with the Eagles in 1972 and whether it was malicious or other. Ian Anderson is convinced 100% that enough elements were lifted from his tune.

  5. The outro is played with a triplet feel, with repeating patterns of three notes. For the 1st bar, guitar #1 plays the notes b, d, and f#, repeated over 5 times. These are, respectively, the tonic, minor third, and fifth of the chord Bmin. It doesn’t sound like a chord (to a lay person) because the notes are arpeggiated.

Guitar #2 plays exactly the same motif, but exactly one third (in scale) up the neck - so d, f#, and b.

    And so on.

They are chords and they are arpeggiated.

Don't worry about it Les, it'll probably sound like Status Quo anyway.

  9. You are correct that one of the guitars plays the notes in that order, because it’s following the leading guitar which starts on the d note, and it follows in thirds.

The point I am trying to make is that the notes describe the chords of the verse, with tonic, third, and fifth; and they are arpeggiated.

I don’t see how anyone can dispute that.

I never knew this and i tend to generally look out for this sort of stuff. I'm certainly going to be giving it some research, and on just one very brief listen of the track i think Ian Anderson has every reason to be convinced.

  12. I’ve got most of the solo down.

Learning the notes is the easy part, it’s nailing the phrasing that takes the bulk of the practice.

You’ll know that from playing your pink penny whistle, Skids.

Like NSIS I was gigging 30 years back while you were learning house bashing. I learned piano as a child which although I hated at the time put me in good stead later in life. I can also play woodwind and harmonica to a reasonable level.

‘Old’ HIAG loved a sock account.....

    He also hated Stan.

Brb announcing that Stan would serve an incremental ban for very sock account that he found, could be manna from heaven for ‘Old’ HIAG......just saying,...........
