You appear to be confusing yourself. Because a seat is empty does not mean a ticket wasn't sold for it.

24,973 for a Champions League game.

As for our overall attendances, we're a little ahead of you:
    http://www.worldfootball.net/attendance/eng-premier-league-2017-2018/1/
Over a million in 15 games, whereas you've had about two thirds of that with an additional match.

No idea why you lot are so obsessed with attendances, though. Very odd.

The fact that people spend money on tickets but do not turn up in their thousands suggests that the tickets are not being sold to genuine fans. This is an on going problem there and has been for several years.

I get that on a one off someone could be ill, or work has changed etc. but that is not what is happening at arsenal at the moment...imo of course.

It was not a dig at Arsenal btw...it concerns me that it could happen at spurs.

In the last few seasons at WHL certain season ticket holders were selling their seats on stub hub at huge mark ups...that suggests that not genuine fans had got season tickets and that could well be worse at the new ground.

    I didn't take it as a dig :emoticon-0148-yes:

Your point was that the empty seats were because of pricing. Mine was that if they are sold, that can't be the reason. It is more than likely due to a combination of protest, bad weather and tv coverage or somesuch.

So if the seat is sold, but the buyer doesn't turn up, does it count as an attendance?

Nope. And it definitely doesn't mean this...

"They are taking fans for granted...pricing them out of big games. When you are doing well the plastics will come but when you struggle they bugger off but real fans can not afford the tickets so you are left with thousands of empty seats."

Depends on the club. Arsenal count ticket sales as attendance, for example.

But some clubs seem to be doing so. Arsenal (just for argument sake) say 50 plus thousand, when there is visably less. Sure many clubs must do the same?

‘We are clear in all our communication that the attendance figures we announce reflect the number of tickets sold. This is in line with most sports stadia.

An empty stadium can be a sell-out, but I see your point.

You really are, though. Utterly dull and unimaginative, just like his reply.
Suck up to anyone who's obnoxious and unintelligent and embrace any idea that's utter ****e, for some reason.

    1) It depends on the club...Arsenal do count seats sold not those who actually turn up.
A mate of mine is a gooner season ticket owner and says that when the attendance is announced it is always 59,000 and in most games there are thousands of empty seats.

    2) The quote was meant as a general point...clubs doing well and are were raising prices and this prices a lot of fans out and then when the club slips the "newer" better off fans who afforded the higher prices cease to come. This could well happen at spurs.
Back in the early 2000s when we were **** we were averaging around 32 or 33000 even though we were fighting relegation or coming mid table. If we end up in that situation again, like Arsenal we will end up with thousands of empty seats every match. Yet at Wembley we are averaging 65000.

My point about arsenal was not fully explained so I will try again.

Every club allows season ticket holders to re sell individual match tickets once that match is a sell out. Some like Spurs use companies like Stubhub and others do it 'in house'.
In my view (which could be wrong of course) Arsenal season ticket holders who have started not attending in large numbers are not able to re sell their seat tickets cos they are charging a lot to make back their money.

The non attendance of thousands can't be explained away by weather or TV imo although some can be by the protest explanation.

If more tickets were reasonably priced then more "regular longer term" fans would buy them and would turn up.

Football is taking fans for granted...many premier league clubs have empty seats at games and that rarely happened. If they are not careful they will price fans out and will struggle to get them back.

<laugh> You're repeating the same stuff endlessly, because you can't think of anything new. How is that supposed to shake me?
The only shook thing here is you, since we stuffed you at the Bridge. Drunk and rambling about Spurs ever since.
