can't see it myself vince regarding Helmes and Bellamy but i've got a feeling we may get Bendtner on loan
Published on Saturday 27 August 2011 10:10 Sunderland are working on three fronts to bring in strikers before transfer deadline day. Craig Bellamy at Manchester City, Nicklas Bendtner at Arsenal and Patrick Helmes at Wolfsburg are all on the club’s radar, with Sunderland hopeful of bringing one or even two of them in before the transfer window closes at 11pm on Wednesday. Reports from Germany yesterday afternoon suggested Helmes has rebuffed Sunderland’s initial interest while, on the other fronts, Liverpool have emerged as favourites to sign Bellamy and Arsenal have yet to decide whether or not to even allow Bendtner to go out on loan this season. But, despite those difficulties, Sunderland will continue working away at the potential moves, knowing that many a deal which might seem dead can suddenly be resurrected as the deadline approaches. If Sunderland can push a deal or two through for strikers though, the Black Cats’ manager will be a much happier man. “We’re still a bit light up front when it comes to firepower,” he admitted. “But that’s something that we’re looking at in terms of transfers over the next few days. “We’ve got one or two irons in the fire as we speak and hopefully something will come from that.” * Full story in tonight’s Sunderland Echo Not that hopefull when you read it

It seems a strange turn around, Bruce & Quinn normally play their cards close to their chest... are public announcements a sign of panic? How will this effect the negotiations - apart from put the price up? But if any come off, especially premier players, then good work.
Helmes told us to **** off basically. Bellamy is past it and injury prone. Crouch would do but may be overpriced. We should be aiming for Demba Cisse as a natural replacement for Bent. I'd be happy with Bentdner also..
I heard with Helmes we asked for a loan and both he and Wolfsburg were only interested in permanent. Bellamy has said he will not come due to still having friends involved with NUFC. So, we are likely to end up with Bendtner, who is a potentially good player, but not what we need at all. Not a great read really is it?
it's not a great read but it does show that we are looking at decent players, at least we know they are trying to get someone in ..
I look at stuff all the time mate, we have a matter of days and we are short. We've known since January we needed a striker, i'm concerned, and i don't have any faith that we will get anyone in, hopefully i'm wrong on this.
it is strange like considering we knew we needed a replacement striker and we signed so many players straight away!! i was thinking the other day (yes it hurt ) that quinn and short have told bruce he cant have any money for a striker, so to push forward his point he played on tuesday without any strikers at all, then complained that we have no firepower!! thats just an idea i had at work because i couldnt think of any other reason in the world he would have put that team out..
Said this for a long time I don't like loan players. Players on the pitch for SAFC should belong to SAFC. Welbeck did well, but look what happened when he went back, left a huge gaping hole in our attack.

Same applies to players who "belong" in this day and age, mate. Judas? No such thing as permanent any more, really.
Good if these 3 come in, but it really does not sound if any are close, we might need to push harder for other players. If I wanted to be suspicious the leaks to journo's might be hot air and none of them are likely, but fans need something to calm down.
