Precisely. That wouldn't fill the stadium what with the increase in prices coming down the line anarl.
What happened to the theory that the club is too be sold as soon as survival is confirmed? Reading between the lines its a load of balls. Like a lot of the other BS spouted on here...Stating the bleeding obvious...Next season promises to be absolutely rank, unless new investment comes in....
Without new owners, or a major u-turn on prices, attendances will fall off a cliff next season. There wont be anywhere near even 9,000 average. Most fans are so pissed off they no longer care, or simply wont afford it. IDs will totally kill it. It will be a total embarrassment. Why cant the idiot Enob see it?
The 'idiot' doesn't care - he'll still be getting parachute money and we'll be getting gates lower than Lincoln City are getting now. Don't forget - no-one on earth can tell them how to run their business
I think they will change tact at some point after this season when they know the parachute payments are ending. They can shove it for me.
They're in no hurry JE; there's £38,000,000 of parachute payments coming into the coffers next season - nothings changing until season 19/20
He / they clearly don't care about us fans, about tradition, etc. And £38 million on it's own is a lot of money and obviously their main focus. BUT they are supposed to be clever business men, yet are literally throwing away additional hundreds of thousands of pounds, maybe even into millions over time, through plummeting attendances, merchandise, etc, and surely it must now be hitting their sponsorship revenue. Not only are they incredibly vindictive and stubborn, but they must be truly stupid too. Oh, and add despicable ****s to that list too.
It's millions they are missing out on, the golden opportunity at the moment is the riches of the Premier League. They have not only fallen off the boat but let it sail so far ahead we will never catch up.
You'll always get exceptions - Leicester winning the PL, Burnley are a standout example. Adkins wants a 20 man outfield squad and 3 keepers but he needs to sign up the key elements or too much personnel change will mess up the balance.
Even if we went back to 18000 gates in the championship a rich owner would have to bankroll any promotion push. We are going to be reliant on finding lower league gems or youth products to sell on to keep the club afloat.
And if they do get promoted well done them ( I hope they use the money wisely ) the thing is the gap is widening between the rich clubs PL plus a few yoyo's getting the huge parachute payments and the rest of the clubs. Any player showing a bit of potential will be scooped up by the big boys, the middle and lower level clubs will sell as they try to balance their own books. Player values will continue to rise so the chances of a creating a team to challenge for promotion will be much harder. The state of football in England is quite depressing at the moment, it all started to go wrong when the Premier League was formed. A smart move by those on that side of the fence but a disaster for the FA.
I'm waiting until the very last moment next season before deciding whether to renew for 18/19, I dare say like a lot of others. If we start to recruit has been's, rejects from Chesterfield etc, then I'll know its time to say tat-tar
