    thats nice of the council

    this is getting towards the point of government inquiry now.

    I understand and fully support the desire for regeneration in said area.

    I find it ridiculous a club in the english premier league cannot get finance given the astronomical amount of money floating around.

    They couldn't find £30m for Kings Dock - seems laughable now.

    Joe did a podcast last week extolling the virtues of the current proposed deal from LCC’s perspective i.e. their margin.

    He also said that EFC wanted to buyout the lease on Finch Farm but he’d told them to do one as its profitable for LCC.

    He’s flying a kite here, as there’s no way EFC will want to be tenants in their own stadium. We’ll fund the incremental amount, the size of which will depend on the final capacity decision. Of course we can obtain funding, it’s the commercial rates that won’t look so attractive, hence why the original LCC funding model worked for both parties.

    Different time, different owner, different set of risks, but yes seems laughable in hindsight.

    Moshiri and Corestate jointly purchased the city's most iconic building The Liver Building for £48m.

    So billionaire Moshiri can find £24m to bump up his personal property portfolio but as yet not offered to put any money into Everton's new stadium project?
    Hicks and Gillett tried to take LFC to the cleaners and almost finished us off, EFC should be mindful of that and their new owner, if plan b comes into play and Everton are merely tennents in a council owned stadium they should own by right it's a disgrace, Mayor Joe will be in deep **** for burdening the council with the stadium, the plan is beginning to fester because of Joe's promises while Moshiri says **** all.

    Joe acts like it's all cut and dried and his decision will sway any doubters on the city council, it needs sorting out asap or its in danger of falling through, like our Stanley Park new build did.

    In fairness we don't know what's going on behind the scenes in terms of financing the stadium - and tobes is reluctant to tell us what the big breaking news was from 2 months ago <whistle> - but it's obvious finding the money is causing Everton some problems or we wouldn't keep getting Joe drip feeding us snippets like the contents of the above link.

    The architect will surely be on a retainer so he will be laughing the more this drags on. It would be a real shame if it all fell through .

    Yeah, I just think the speed at which he found the money to go halves with his business partners to purchase the Liver Buildings should have prompted Mayor Joe to ask for similar enthusiasm from him to put his own money into the Everton stadium project considering the Mayor was prepared to put Council loaned money up front.
    Maybe you can explain what exactly Moshiri would own in real terms if Everton don't own a/the stadium until it's paid for or if plan B kicks in and the council own the stadium outright?
    Are there any other English clubs that exist without owning a stadium?
    Genuine question.

    Nice one, so the club exist without owning a stadium, I'd have thought the rules would require a club must own a stadium, but fair enough astro.<ok>

    West Ham is the other obvious one. Think there's a fair few more though.

    Thinking about it, I don't think City own the Etihad do they?

    A club must have access to a stadium. Think of Wimbledon using Selhurst Park for however many years.

    Just out of interest I checked to see who owns each of the PL grounds.

    Arsenal, Bournemouth, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Everton, Liverpool, man utd, Southampton, Stoke, Watford, West Brom, - all own their grounds.

    Brighton co owned by University of Brighton/Brighton & Hove city council;
    Burnley - Longside Properties;
    Huddersfield - Kirklees Stadium Development Ltd [is split between the Council of the Borough of Kirklees (40%), Huddersfield Town (40%) and rugby team owner Huddersfield Sporting Pride (20%).]
    Leicester - K-Power Holdings Co Limited (Hong Kong)
    Man City - Manchester city council
    Newcastle - The Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne
    Swansea - The Council of the city and county of Swansea
    Spurs - Meldene Ltd [The freehold owner of the development site is Meldene, a company which is wholly owned by the club. The parent company, ENIC group, is based in the Bahamas.]
    West Ham - London Legacy Development Corporation
