They probably didn't lose heavily at QPR, a result that followed hard on the heels of 2-0 win against 'Pool, or lamely at Everton, who had not at that time shown signs of becoming the force that they would become in the following season. We lost the title because we didn't take the points in games where we should. My point is that the Cup game played no significant part in our failure to win the league,which was your assertion.
