61 years old man! FFS My Dad met him years ago and always said he was one of the nicest blokes he's met involved in the game. So young mind by today's standards
Very sad. He seemed the most polite man. Proper gentleman, backed up from quotes of people who actually new him. Of course I didn't agree with everything he said but I don't recall him saying a bad word about anyone. Saw him only recently on sky sports news the other week reviewing the England games. Quite gutted really.
He was one of those rare players that you couldn’t help but like, even though he was the opposition. RIP Ray
More or less the opposite jd. Never rated him as a footballer but came across as a decent guy on the media side. RIP
I met him at Roker Park whilst at a corporate event, and he was brilliant, knowledgable and really funny. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him & those he didn’t, I’m sure. RIP Fella
My sincere condolences to his family, he seemed a genuinely decent fella. Watching the clips on TV of him playing he showed grit, determination, leadership and real talent..........oh, how we could do with a player of that calibre. R.I.P.
Just over a week ago ray Wilkins and myself had a heart attack, I made it through thanks to the emergency services and the help of the the staff at Sunderland royal hospital, RIP ray a gentleman of the sport. I dialed 111 for assistance at 5am, as I’m sure ray did when he felt it, I received emergency treatment and received an operation by lunch which saved my life, Ray will have got the same, Ray didn’t make it, Ray didn’t smoke and neither do I now nor have I since just before heart attack, it’s not often you get a second chance at life.
